Custom Equipment’s newHB-1230 scissor
lifts (available inAustralia throughHybrid
Lifts), themost recent addition to the
company’s full lineof Hy-Brid Lifts low-
level access equipment, were recently sent
to the first dealer purchaser - American
Scissor Lift, in Stockton, California.
ThenewHB-1230swill join62HB-1030
lifts American Scissor Lift has in its fleet.
“Our customers useour Hy-Brid Lifts for
everything from electrical todrywall to
plumbing,”MikeMelthratter, president of
American Scissor Lift said.
“Theywork in congestedareas that
oftenhave low floor loading requirements,
so they need lifts that are light enough
and small enough tomaneuver around
framingand throughdoorways, but
still provideenoughplatform spaceand
capacity for their tools andmaterials.”
WithHB-1230 lifts, contractors canwork
at heights up to 18 feet. They canhold
twopeopleandup to 500pounds on their
platforms, which are 30 incheswide, 55
inches long and feature extensions that
addnearly 29 inches of length. They also
feature zero-turn radiuses for exceptional

maneuverability around tight corners and
throughdoorways.
TheHB-1230s’ dual frontwheels help
distribute themachines’ weight for lower
wheel loads. Pairedwith the lightweight
design, theunits are able toworkon
delicate flooring, including tile, laminate,
raised floors andmezzanines, withmuch
lower potential for damage. Proportional
drive and lift systems onHy-Brid Lifts give
users greater control. They canadjust how
fast the lifts travel and the rateatwhich
they raiseor lower theplatforms, which
canminimisedamagewhenmaneuvering
close towalls or objects.While the
platforms areoperatedupanddownby
theunits’ hydraulics, two 12-volt, deep-
cyclebatteries power theelectrical drive
and steering systems. Since the systems are
electrical rather thanhydraulic, they draw
fewer amps and require less overall power.
Electric drive and steering is standard for
HB-1230s. Combinedwith lightweight
construction, this allows theunits’ battery
power to last up to two times longer, or as
