Genie SX-180unit inAustralia.
TheGenie SX-180 self-
propelled telescopic boom lift
launched in Europe in 2013
with amaximumplatform
height of 54.86m (180ft).

After its debut at HIRE 14,
the first Genie SX-180unitwill
bedelivered to its newhome
inAustralia. Orderswill then
be filled inWesternAustralia,
Queensland andVictoria.
Genie launches giant boom
“TheGenie SX-180boom lift
is designed tobeproductive,
reliable and easy to transport,”
Brad said. “TheGenie SX-180
is built to safely andquickly
lift operators higher than any
previously offeredGenie self-
propelledboom lift.“
Witha 54.86m (180ft)
vertical reach and 24.38m (80ft)
horizontal reach, theGenie
SX-180boom lift provides a
workingenvelope ideal for
themost extremeaccess jobs.
The 2.44m (8ft) by 0.91m
(3ft) platformhasmaximum
capacity of 340kg (750lb). The
3.05m (10ft), 135° (vertical)
and 60° (horizontal), rotating
jibpositionsworkers andgear
exactlywhere they areneeded.
TheGenie SX-180unit is
designed tobedriven at
height. Travel speeds vary
basedonboomposition and
range from 3.7km/h (2.3mph)
with theboom in the stowed
position, 0.65km/h (0.4mph)
below 38.1m (125ft) and
0.17km/hr (0.1mph) above
38.1m (125ft).
Thenewly designedXChassis
system extends and retracts the
axles toprovideboth stability
on the job and anarrowprofile
for transport. Theboom lift’s
stoweddimensions are 3.05m
(10ft) inheight and 2.49m
(8ft 2in)wide.With a stowed
lengthof 12.98m (42ft 7in), the
24,902kg (54,900lbs)machine
does not requireoverwidthor
over height permits allowing it
tobe transportedon a truck.
TheGenie SX-180boom lift
has access to important systems
and components, robust hose
andharness routings andaccess
to slewbearingbolts from
topside. Theground controls
offer anupdated function
diagram layout and tactile
membrane switches. A 189
litre (50US gallons) fuel tank
for long run time and a 7.5kW
240V50Hz generator areboth
standard equipment.
