EARTHMOVING & MINI EQUIPMENT
Compaction specialist Conplant has
shown its commitment to providing
efficient customer service by adding to its
fleet of service vehicles, five 2.3-tonne Ford
4x4’s fitted with Pacific service bodies.
Conplant Managing Director Ian Coleman
said the new vehicles expand Conplant’s
quick response and difficult terrain field
service capacity for customers, allowing
them to focus on their projects.
“More fleet service vehicles means faster
response times and the capacity to provide
maintenance and service support anytime,
anywhere with minimal impact to our
customers’ work schedule,” Ian said.
“With these units, Conplant will have more
than 20 service vehicles and over 100
people engaged in supporting customers
and equipment throughout our branch
network in the Eastern States and WA.”
National Manager – Service, Technical
Support & Training, Dary Samadi said: “The
new vehicles complement our medium and
heavy field service truck capabilities and
capacity. Being 4x4 and relatively light,
In the hire and rental business,
margins are tight and every dollar
counts, so Gary Singleton, founder of
Loadex Hire, seeks equipment that is
highly fuel efficient to help manage
costs. According to Gary, Kobelco
excavators are tougher than nails, but
easy on the wallet and he recently
ordered 18 new machines.
Originally a contractor in Victoria and
South Australia, Gary founded Loadex
Hire in 1996 in WA and has since
grown it into a successful, multi-
branch business in two states.
Loadex Hire provides late model
construction machinery and
earthmoving plant equipment
throughout Western Australia and
Adelaide regions.
“With margins tight and fuel around
$1.70 a litre, it means a lot for Kobelco to
have the best fuel economy. It can be the
difference between making money and not
making money on a job,” Gary said.
He explained the Kobelco SK200-8
excavator gives him savings of up to 20%
in fuel compared to previous models.
Kobelco’s ruggedness has also been an
Kobelco and Loadex keeping faith
important feature for Gary.
“Dry hire machines tend to work hard,
and the standard of operator can vary, but
the quality of the Kobelco machines can
withstand tough operation.
“The Kobelco excavators generally only
need routine maintenance, which our field
service fitters perform,” he said.
Another stand-out feature is the cooling
system, with Gary noting even when

work. Generally, wherever the machine is
we’ll be able to get to it.” Dary said.
The new additions are fitted with ROPS
and remote worker monitoring systems.
The Conplant team supports both
Ammann compaction equipment owners
and their own hire fleet of more than 750
rollers – throughout most demanding
environments. Their dedication to
compaction means they have become so
familiar with the machines they can often
identify and solve issues over the phone for
their customers, significantly reducing the
time spent on repairs.
“We can often accurately assess the
severity of a fault based on a customer’s
description and we can choose the most
effective solution like sending a service
vehicle equipped with the correct parts,
or even replacing the machine if a major
failure has occurred.”
Conplant can minimise downtime by
completing scheduled maintenance and
repairs during no use periods such as
RDO’s and periods of wet weather.

Adelaide was reaching 45
degrees, the Kobelcos were
running cooler than other
machines which helps them to
maintain performance.
Gary’s recent order of 18
Kobelco excavators through
South Australian dealer
Australian Construction
Equipment included models
ranging from 13 tonnes up to
the Kobelco 50 tonne excavator.
Gary also looks for features that
offer a point of difference. For
example, the broad Kobelco
excavator range includes a
number of short rear swing
(SR) excavators up to 24 tonnes
operating weight, which suit work in
confined spaces between structures or
on roadways, without compromising
operating performance.
Also in the range are offset boom
machines for digging against walls and
excavators with a telescopic dipper arm,
which suit deep excavation applications.
