Haulotte’s HA16RTJ PRO with 4 wheel-
drive, 4-wheel steer, 360° continuous turret
rotation, oscillating axle is simple, robust,
reliable and easy to maintain with optimal
performance and a high level of safety.
The 4-wheel steer on HA16 RTJ PRO
model allows three steering configurations:
4-wheel steer, 2-wheel steer and crab
steer. The selection can be made using the
selector on the upper control box.
With simultaneous movement capability,
the hydraulic system and an oscillating
axle gives comfort and safety thanks to
smooth movements and the ability to
reach the working area with maximum
precision.
The HA16 RTJ range has excellent rough
terrain capability with ground clearance of
38cm, 40% gradeability and 4-wheel-drive
on all models. The HA16RTJ PRO is also
designed with a permanent anti-slipping
differential that evenly distributes power
to the wheels. Additionally, the hydraulic

Skyjack’s fleet of models helps Klochko
Equipment Rental Company, in Melvindale,
Michigan, save money, reduce service
training and makes the rare repair easier.
“What I really like is the fact the parts are
common and they span several different
models,” owner Tom Klochko said.
“It really helps the mechanics out. I think it
will be very helpful to keeping costs down,
keeping inventory parts down, reducing
labour time and my parts carrying cost.”
Earlier this year, Tom acquired different
models of Skyjack telescopic boom
equipment, including the SJ45T, that can
carry 500lbs (227kg) to a working height of
more than 51ft (15.6m), and the SJ66T, that
can carry the same weight to a working
height of more than 72ft (21.9m).
“I had several mechanics mention to me:
“This part is the same as on the other
model; even though it’s a different type of
boom, it’s still the same system,” Tom said.
“They thought that was great because
that’s one less thing they have to relearn
on a different model. My mechanics all
said the same thing, “These parts are
identical. There are some parts that are
common in both booms and scissors.”

Common parts saves money, time and space
Skyjack said: “All Skyjack’s products
are designed to be easy to service and
maintain…by keeping design simple and
using proven technology the reliability
and ease of service is common to the
company’s designs. That means common
components across models and model
groups are used wherever possible,
reducing the number of service parts
needed to maintain Skyjack products. The
use of ‘off the shelf service’ parts wherever
possible, as opposed to custom designs,
means replacing or repairing components
is easy and cost effective.”
Commonality of parts is only one part of
the story. A great example of complex jobs
made easier thanks to simple engineering
is Skyjack’s famous color-coded and
numbered wiring system which promotes
quick repairs, which in turn means less
down time and increased utilisation.
“It’s identifiable and it helps the
mechanics,” Tom said about Skyjack’s
coloring system. “You can grab wire #14
and know it’s for the lift function and that’s
the case on every Skyjack model.”

New 4–wheel-drive, 4–wheel steer AWP
differential lock can be activated manually
for maximum efficiency on more difficult
rough terrain.
The machine also features cured-on solid
tyres that are longer lasting than foam
filled tyres and environmentally friendlier.
The new Kubota engine has a variable
motor speed halving the noise level and
reducing the fuel consumption by 15%.
The turret hood benefits from a new
design reinforced by a metal sub-frame for
the best resistance in all conditions. The
modular design of the hoods allow only the
damaged part to be replaced, resulting in
spare parts cost reductions.
The fully modular platform solution makes
it possible to replace only the damaged
component instead of changing the whole

The HA16 RTJ range complies with
working regulations (AS1418-10) and it
is a multipurpose machine, suitable for
building works (steel erection, cladding,
curtain wall, painting, etc), finishing works
(plumbing, electrics, air conditioning,
heating, insulation) and maintenance work,
demolition and pruning, etc.
Haulotte recently launched a secondary
guarding device: Haulotte ACTIV’Shield
Bar which reduces crushing risk while
maintaining productivity.

EWP Safe Use Info Pack
About a year ago the EWPA introduced a
Safe Use Info Pack which was designed
to be downloaded online to provide
check lists on pre-delivery of EWPs to
site. It includes a checklist for hazards
and the type of EWP required plus a site
arrival checklist that goes through what
should be on the machine on arrival.
This was designed for the gate area of
the major sites. The Safe Use Info Pack
is being regularly viewed and has been
downloaded over 2100 times in the past
year. The free pack saves time on new
sites for pre delivery procedures since
customers can now use a standard
template. View the pack on the EWPA
website under ‘Information Sheets’.
