NEWS IN BRIEF
Skyreach has launched its
new Skyreach app for iPhones
and Androids which it believes
is the first app of its kind for
the access industry anywhere in
the world.
Following the launch of the
Skyreach web site, Skyreach
created the purpose designed
app. “This is a free download
with versions now available
for both iPhones and Android
Smartphones,” Rod Leech, MD
of Skyreach said.
The Skyreach app is available

Aerial Access,
Australian distributor
of the Versalift range
of EWPs made by
Time Manufacturing
of Waco, Texas, has
released a telescopic
EWP for lighter
commercial vehicles.
The smallest of the
range, the LT-23-TB
has a working height
of 9.2m yet fits on
a chassis of under
3500kg GVM. This
machine allows a
working outreach of
4.4m, and is fitted
with 240V ECU power
connection from base
to platform for use of
power tools.
The model is popular in
Europe, and specifically built to
minimise traffic disruption with
limited road overhang.
Aerial Access has launched
the Australian version of the
LT-23-TB by marrying the tower
with a 4x4 Ford Ranger. The
result is a compact and strong,
cost effective and versatile
EWP. Easy to drive, the vehicle
can be operated with a C class
license, and the low weight
allows better access in urban
A lighter way to access
areas and parking in weight
restricted streets.
The standard platform is
a one-man fibreglass with
a walkthrough easy access
opening with mid and top
rail with a max load capacity
of 136kg. Platform levelling
is controlled automatically
using hydraulics and can be
manually activated from the
upper or lower controls to
level the platform for clean
out and rescue. The machine
also has 5m remote hand held
lower controls that can be
operated at the base of the
machine, making it safer to
control. Rotation is 360
0
non-
continuous with an electric
built switch. Non-lube bearings
are used at all points of motion
making the telescopic boom
low maintenance.
Aluminium or steel toolboxes
can be customised.

“All of the essential Skyreach
data uploaded on the Skyreach
web site is now also available
for Smartphones,” Rod said.
“With so much of our
business conducted in remote
and isolated mining regions
of Australia, we concluded the
Skyreach app would be a very
welcome benefit to our clients.
Clients who are in the field no
longer need a bulky brochure
or web access to search for the
right piece of access equipment
from Skyreach.
“Everything from
comprehensive data on specific
models of access equipment,
to branch locations, contact
details and request forms is
available on the new app.
“When developing this
ground-breaking Skyreach
app, the Australian developers
scoured the world looking for
a model. Nothing could be
found.
“We’re certainly unaware of
anyone in the Australian access
industry having an app,” Rod
Leech said.
“And as best we know there
is nothing like this anywhere
else in the world.”

EXEMPTIONS NOTICE
REGARDING LOADING
AND UNLOADING PLANT
NSWWorkcover has now officially
gazetted the exemptions notice
regarding loading and unloading plant
which falls under the High Risk Licence
categories.
The gazette notice can be viewed at:
/
exemptions%2000213%20&%20
00313%20re%20plant%20loading%20
and%20crane%20inclusion.pdf
The exemption means truck drivers
who load or unload EWPs which have
a boom 11m and over, do not need
to have a WP High Risk Licence. Truck
drivers will still need to be competent
in operating that item of plant for
loading/unloading, which helps to
reinforce the appropriate training in
the Transporting module of the EWPA’s
Yellow Card. The EWPA advises
instruction and training is still required
to ensure the transporter knows how
to correctly load and unload. The EWPA
Load Restraint training module covers
this area and is available to purchase
from the EWPA stationery order.
The other exemption gazetted relates
to crane licences. It covers the issue
of slewing crane licence holders being
able to operate non-slewing cranes.
Conditions apply.
EWPA AGM 2013
In Brisbane on 5 September 2013, Tim
Nuttall, the EWPA National President
stepped down after five years and
Rick Mustillo was elected as the new
President. The EWPA acknowledged
Tim’s generous and committed
dedication to the role over many
years. Also stepping off the Board
was Bernie Kiekebosch who was the
EWPA immediate and past President.
Bernie has been a long term member
of the board from its current formation
back in 1997. Bernie has long been
committed to this industry and has
always promoted the importance and
relevance of the EWPA.
The EWPA also said goodbye to Ken
Matthews of Manlift who stepped
down to enjoy retirement. Ken
represents the core of our members
running a single location family
business. His valued grass roots insights
into key issues will be missed.
The AGM minutes are available on the
EWPA website which now also includes
a ‘transport search’.
