JLG Industries is celebrating
30 years of operation in
Australia.
From humble beginnings in
1983 in a small Port Macquarie
workshop, JLG has become an
industry leader employing over
200 staff at seven facilities in
Australia and New Zealand.
According to Bob Mules,
General Manager Australia
and New Zealand: “There is no
doubt our continual investment
in internal infrastructure,
particularly over the past 10
years, has been a real key to
our growth,” Bob said.
“We have spent millions
on facilities, service vans and
systems to ensure fast and
efficient supply and service for
our customers no matter where
their business or equipment is.”
“Our in-van technology
has had a big impact on our
service capability, providing
live tracking of vehicles to
ensure rapid service response
and giving our field service
technicians equipment
history, automatic inventory
consumption and costing at
their fingertips.
“I’m also very proud of what
30 year milestone for JLG in Australia
we have achieved with our
technical support centre which
fields hundreds of calls each
month, saves our customers
time and money on service and
gets equipment back in the
field more quickly,” he said.
“Our National Technical
Training Program is also highly
effective in helping customers
to better service their own
equipment.”
Bob also acknowledged the
heavy investment in product
development provided by JLG’s
parent company.
“In 2002 we started local
manufacture of lighting towers
at our Port Macquarie facility
and this part of our business
just goes from strength to
strength because the products
are Australian designed and
manufactured and deliver what
the local market wants in terms
of functionality and price,” Bob
said.
Over the past few years JLG
has actively supported Canteen,
the Australian organisation
assisting young people whose
lives have been affected by
cancer. Through the generosity
of JLG’s clients and staff,
over $100,000 has now been
donated to this great cause.
Throughout 2013, JLG
plans to continue launching
further products and service
initiatives, with products such
as new compact crawler booms,
telehandlers and a metro
lighting tower supported by
enhanced ground support
and field service capabilities.
These include Online Express,
JLG’s new interactive online
parts ordering system,
and Clearsky, a telematic
monitoring tool providing
real-time diagnostics, tracking
and reporting solutions to help
customers better manage their
equipment.
