from a horse racing event on the passenger’s side of the truck, a
TV commercial from an advertiser on the driver’s side and on the
tailgate we can run ‘HyperGram’ – our proprietary app that draws
photos with a specified Hashtag down from Instagram – allowing
the audience to interact with the screen. Add sound in the TV
coverage and an audio play list, and an MC on our microphone and
all of a sudden it’s an instant ‘Pop Up’ event,” James said.
Hyped Media has also expanded into events. The company was
approached by a client who wanted to set up a mini amphitheatre
by hiring deck chairs and market umbrellas.
“They also planned to add to the atmosphere by hiring food trucks
and an acoustic band,” James said. “So we took care of the process
for them. We purchased deck lounges, which can be custom
branded and market umbrellas and made connections with The
Australian Mobile Food Vendors Group and a Talent Management
company, and now we’re a one stop shop,” James said.
“Media Production has also become something we expanded into.
Recently, at Frankston City Council's Carols by Candlelight, we
provided two static cameras (with operators) and one roaming
wireless video cameraman. The vision call came back to a media
production trailer, where we mixed the content. This was fed to one
screen on the main street and another screen 500m away. To cover
the distance, we set up a dish-to-dish microwave link.
“The truck weighs in at 4.5t meaning it can be driven in shopping
centre car parks, on council grasslands and even on to Federation
Square without exceeding the standard weight limits.
“The trucks have the versatility of fitting into quite a small space
when in the ‘cube’ structure – it can fit into a regular car parking
space or it can be a lot bigger when expanded out.
“Set up time takes about 15-30 minutes. We always provide a
driver/operator with our truck. Having our own technician available
is something our clients appreciate.
“We show up to the event, flick a switch to start the generator, and
effectively, we’re active. The screens are already wired, and the PA
system is ready to go. It’s simply a matter of pushing ‘Play’ on the
laptop or changing channel on the TV.”
Hyped Media currently has two trucks but said client demand
suggests this will grow.
“Our big push for 2016 is having a permanent presence in Sydney
and expanding the number of trucks in our offering. This will allow
us overnight dispatch to Brisbane and Adelaide. We’d then be able
to put together an advertising campaign that runs simultaneously
in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, James said.
“We’re also looking at other ideas around this ‘Roll in / Roll out’
LED screen platform. Still LED related, but different formats. And,
we’re continuing to expand into new areas of expertise with our
interactive content, video production, extended hire options, etc.
“The future of the market is very positive. You only need to drive
around and you’ll notice how many traditional printed billboards
are being converted to digital billboards. For us, the future is about
education. A lot of people think an LED screen is not an option
because it has been something feasible for the big events, perhaps
thinking it might be too expensive and too complicated, but with
us, it is possible. It’s just a matter of educating the market this is a
service within reach.
“We are also a great sub hire option. Event companies want an
easy solution. If they can hire one product that is screen, audio,
power and camera all in one, and they know there will be no
issues connecting it all, they like that."
