The keynote address at the World
Crane & Transport Summit (WCTS) in
Amsterdam on 4 and 5 November, by
Jan Kleijn, Mammoet CEO, will ask if
the crane industry is fully prepared
for potentially “disruptive” changes in
technology and business environments.
“There are important trends that
affect our industry, geo-economically,
technologically and environmentally,” Jan
Kleijn, a senior figure in the worldwide
crane and special transport industry said.
“These trends are sources of both
innovation and disruption. What is it
going to mean for our industry? Can we

is subject to approval and it is expected
the deal will finalise sometime in the
first half of 2016. Until then, the two
companies will continue to operate as
separate and independent companies.

Cranes businesses merge for lifting & material handling solutions
Terex Corporation and Konecranes will combine their businesses in a merger of equals
with the new company to be called Konecranes Terex; a global leader in Lifting and
Material Handling Solutions.
The company also announced some
leadership changes within Terex that will
affect the Terex Cranes organisation.
The President of Terex Cranes, Tim Ford,
has left the company to pursue other
opportunities.
Ken Lousberg, currently President of
Terex China, has accepted the role of
President of Terex Cranes. The Terex
Cranes leadership team, who currently
report to Tim, will now report directly to
Ken. In addition to leading Terex Cranes,
Ken will retain responsibility for the
overall Terex business in China, as well as
add responsibility for Latin America.
Ken has had multiple leadership roles
within the Terex Cranes business and
will continue to drive the Terex Cranes
priorities of improving customer and
product support, reducing complexity
and becoming easier to do business with.
Ken started with Genie in 1997 and joined
Terex when Genie was acquired in 2002.
He was named Vice President, Terex
Business Systems (TBS) for Terex Cranes
in 2005, and then Vice President and
General Manager of Terex Cranes Europe
in 2007. He holds a BSME degree from
Colorado State University and an MBA
from the University of Colorado.

depot yet we have a new sales manager
that will be in charge of the sales for ACM
EWP travel towers and Teupen EWP self-
propelled units in South Australia. Used
cranes can also be sold and sourced from
ACMAdelaide.”
Kobelco Cranes will still be run out of
Melbourne under Justin Potter.
ACM–Adelaide is now also the South
Australian exclusive dealer for HYVA
truck loading cranes.

Kleijn joined Mammoet in 1997 and rose
to become head of the company’s US
division in 2006 before being appointed
CEO in July 2011.
He has worked on several high profile
projects, including the raising of the
Russian Kursk submarine.
WCTS, organised by International Cranes
and Specialized Transport magazine, will
be the key educational and networking
event for the worldwide crane and
specialised transport industry in 2015.
The two day
event has

European
Association
of Abnormal
Road Transport and Mobile Cranes)
and the SC&RA (Specialised Carriers &
