A specially modified polyplaner, hired from Kennards Concrete Care,
has been playing an important role in the Hills M2 Upgrade in Sydney
to scarify the edge of the existing concrete roadway to enable better
bonding with new pavement.
Kennards Concrete Care modified the machine so, instead of working
horizontally, the tungsten teeth cut into the vertical face. The skids
were relocated so the head could float along the top of the pavement.
The upgrade project is expected to be completed in the first half of
2013 with the majority of work undertaken by Leighton Contractors.
Project engineer for the paving team, James Stewart, said scarifying
with the polyplaner provided a mechanical interlock between the two
concrete faces.

The Goliath work lights provide light without flickering and the soft
light is easy on the eye. The Goliath 250+ is fitted with a socket outlet
and a switch on the back panel so a number of lights can be connected
to form a ‘daisy chain’ while still only requiring one electrical socket.
Goliath 250 lights are fitted with a special tube that ensures a high
level of illumination. This means the power consumption is low in
relation to the volume of light supplied.
The Goliath 250 light is internationally rated to IP65 while the
Goliath 250+ is rated to IP54 making these lights suitable for use in
damp and dusty situations.
Both the cabinet and the front panel are made of shock-proof
material while the tube is held in place securely to prevent breakage in
most situations. The tube itself has a service life of up to 10,000 hours.
Goliath 250 lights are double insulated to protect from electrical
shocks, even if the electrical fault occurs in the light itself. Accessories
include a multi stand (3 leg, 1-2.5m), single light bracket and double
