Snorkel’s new hydraulic drive scissor
lift family includes four models: S3219E,
S3226E, S4726E and S4732E. The S3219E
provides 5.79m of platform height from
a 0.81m wide chassis and can lift 250kg,
while the taller S3226E delivers 7.9m of
platform height can also lift 250kg. The
1.2m wide S4726E can lift 454kg to 7.9m,
and the S4732E can lift 350kg to 9.8m.
Non-marking tires are fitted as standard.
According to the company, all four
models are fitted with a new roll-out
extension deck which utilises telescopic
rails to maximise the platform working
area, whether stowed or extended. The
S3219E and S3226E models share a 0.91m
extension deck, and the S4726E and
S4732E have a 1.21m extension deck.
Snorkel electric slab scissor lifts are
backed by a two year parts and labour
and five year structural warranty.
The new scissor lifts feature a dual shear
design scissor stack with oversized end
pins, which the company said are over
80% stronger than the industry standard,
to increase stack rigidity and increase the
overall life of the machine. The unique
pinkeeper design is more robust than
previous designs and is easy to assemble
and disassemble as required. The scissor
stack is fitted with maintenance-free
rollers instead of traditional wear pads.
A common replacement part in the
rental industry, the kingpins have been
enhanced by a factor of six to eliminate
breakage, especially from forklifts when
moving the machines. The S3219E and
S3226E both have 75mm kingpins and
the S4726E and S4732E both have 100mm
kingpins. All new Snorkel slab scissor lifts
have a 90° steering design for better job-
site manoeuvrability, and the drive motors
are protected from damage and debris
by 6mm (1/4”) steel plates. Wheels are
fitted with a single wheel nut, designed to
reduce maintenance time between jobs.
Another common replacement part in the
rental industry is the upper control box.
On the new Snorkel electric scissor lifts,
the upper control box is hard mounted,
which helps to reduce loss, damage and
theft. A power outlet is fitted as standard
into the control box, which is a benefit of
the fixed control box design.
The lower control panel is recessed

into the rear of the chassis, allowing
easy access when machines are parked
side-by-side in a rental yard. The power
to platform and charging plugs are also
located in the rear of the chassis for easy
access. A hand-held pendant control for
loading is fitted to the external toe board
of the machine, allowing the operator to
‘walk’ the machine onto a truck, from
a safe distance, without needing to be
inside the platform.
The lifts have a gravity-actuated, over-
centre active pothole protection system
that does not rely on springs or hydraulics
when activated. This low maintenance
design improves machine reliability and
reduces service calls relating to pothole
system failures.
The Snorkel scissor lifts feature an
‘inside-out’ tray design which makes
light work of servicing the equipment.
All hydraulic and electrical components
are able to rotate outside of the machine
chassis for easy access. With two smaller
side doors on each side of the lift instead
of the traditional single large door, the
operator is able to gain access to the
machine components even when parked
close to a wall or obstacle because only
0.46m of clearance is required. The
smaller door trays also carry less weight,
meaning less strain on the door hinges.
The doors are fitted with oversized door
latches which are designed for a long life.
The front side trays both contain
batteries, which improve the overall
machine balance. The two rear side trays
contain the hydraulic valve and hydraulic
power unit. There is a rear tray containing
all electronics including the charger,
controller, and contactors. The tray is
housed in heavy-duty 6mm (¼”) steel
which provides additional protection to
the electrical components and wiring.
The chassis features a solid plate
underneath to protect the undercarriage
and a flat top to ensure any debris falls
onto the ground during power washing.
Large, easily accessible tie down points
are provided and a heavy-duty step is
built into the chassis, enabling the use of
a chain across it for tie down.
With 25% gradeability and a long duty
cycle per charge, the new Snorkel series
of electric slab scissor lifts are designed
to deliver a long working life with
minimal downtime and low maintenance
costs. The hydraulic system has been
completely deconstructed to eliminate
any inefficiencies. Proportional motor and
pump rotation conserve battery energy
allowing for longer duty cycles as well
as charging off the top of the battery,
extending the overall life of the battery.
The platform is made from 2.7mm
(12 gauge) diamond plate, eliminating
the need for grip tape which is a high
frequency replacement item in the rental
industry, while still providing a high grip
surface. The platform working area is
maximised in both stowed and extended
positions, through the use of a telescopic
slide-out extension deck. Self-closing
‘saloon-style’ swing gates provide
easy access to the platform, even when
carrying tools or materials.
For consistency with other Snorkel lifts,
the new electric scissor lift family is
fitted with Snorkel’s on-board diagnostic
system. The lifts also share a standardised
key switch, and have a lockable battery
disconnect switch, allowing the lifts to be
secured from theft or unauthorised use.
Snorkel is expanding the electric scissor
lift family with two new models – S3215E
and S3220E to fulfil customer demand
for electric scissor lifts with higher lifting
capacities. The Snorkel S3215E can lift up
to 272kg (600 lbs), and the S3220E can lift
up to 408kg (900lbs).
