ACCESS in ACTION
Manitou’s secondary guarding system
– the Safe Man System – to maximise
operators’ safety, is compliant with the
EN 280 Standards and meets Australia’s
requirements for safety devices on aerial
work platforms.
A sensitive bar is fitted at the front of the
control panel without interfering with
the operator’s visibility on the control
panel. When the platform is active and
pressure is made on the sensitive bar
for more than three seconds, all of the
functions of the aerial platform become
inactive. An audible alarm is activated
and a blue beacon flashes and all
movements immediately stop. The boom
then automatically retracts. The operator
can free themselves by the use of a
bypass button which allows them to take
control and disengage. If the operator is
unconscious, it is possible to take control

platforms as an option or as a kit.
of the machine from the controls at the
base of the access platform. This system,
which is becoming more requested,
ensures operator safety.
Manitou’s range of aerial work platforms
includes: Diesel platform range – with
working height up to 28ft; Articulated
platforms; Telescopic platforms; Electric
platforms – with working height up to
17m: Vertical work-platforms; Articulated
boom platforms; Bi-energy articulated
boom platforms; and Scissors.

www.manitou-group.comThe SX-150 boom lift reaches its full
platform height of 46.33m (152ft) in
under three minutes. The boom offers
four programmable height settings of
45.72m (150ft), 41.15m (135ft), 36.58m
(120ft) and 30.48m (100ft) for rental
versatility and a 3.05m (10ft) horizontal
and vertical rotating jib allows for quick
local repositioning of the platform. With
a horizontal outreach of 24.38m (80ft),
this boom also offers 21.34m (70ft) of
outreach at 36.58m (120ft) of platform
height. The SX-150 boom lift provides
unrestricted range of motion with a lift
capacity of 340kg (750lbs) for a maximum
of two people. A standard 7.5kW on-
board generator powers tools. Weighing
22997kg (50,700lbs), with a tail swing
(axles extended) of 1.07m (3ft 6in) and
ground clearance of 0.38m (15in), the
boom lift is transportable on a standard
trailer; no over-size permits are required.
The boom uses an identical, field-proven
chassis design as employed on the
SX-180 and ZX-135 boom lifts. External
sensors and manifolds are protected
under steel covers that are easily removed
providing excellent service access. The
unit uses a Deutz Tier 4 interim engine.
The rotating jib worm drive reduces
backlash while increasing reliability and
offers 60 degrees of horizontal motion
for increased working area. The SX-150
boom lift contains hydraulic hard lines
where possible to increase durability
while a hydraulic filtration system
ensures cleanliness.
All manifolds offer easy wrench access
while a swing out engine tray provides
easy service or maintenance access. The
boom features easy to reach hydraulic
filters, with a drop-in return filter for easy
cleaning and replacement, as well as
bulkhead mount hydraulic lines, so hoses
can be removed and replaced in one
piece. The boom extend system features
a cylinder and wire rope cartridge for fast
service or replacement.
