JCB Generators Australia
has released an LED model
of its LT9 Lighting tower; a
compact, dedicated, road
tow-able lighting tower.
Featuring 360° mast
rotation, the LT9 is a 9m
hydraulically operated
mast available with four
1000W metal halide lights
or six 240W LED lights.
Offering quiet operation
at 62dB(A) at 7m, the LT9
has heavy duty stabilisers
and jockey wheel and
can be operated from a 240 Volt external
power source. Ideal for indoor use, the LT9
has a digital controller including on/off
timer and powered tilt functions.
The new LT9 LED model uses a 3 cylinder
engine, along with LED technology to run
for 50% longer than the standard LT9 on
a single tank of fuel due to the reduced
power requirement for the LED lights,
according to the company.

While the standard
LT9 uses four 1000W
metal halide bulbs, the
new LT9 LED is equipped
with six 240W LED lamps providing a total
output of 180,000 lumens. Each lamp can
be individually adjusted for angle and
rotation, to provide clear, direct light.
New to JCB’s lighting tower range is the
integrated electronic timer.
The new LT9 LED model will include a
seven day timer as standard, extending
run time and allowing the unit to be fully
automatic.

In a recent project at the Macquarie
Centre in North Ryde, NSW, Westfield
Design and Construction implemented a
system to reduce noise complaints from
shops, customers and nearby residents,
even during night works.
“This was a heavy demolition and new
build project, which involved extensive
noisy works like piling, concrete cutting
and running generators in close proximity
to shops, offices and residential areas. We
had to allow the existing shopping centre
to continue trading without affecting
customers, tenants and their employees,”
Simon Lyster, Westfield Design and
Construction’s Risk Manager for the
Macquarie Centre said.
“So a main priority was we didn’t
cause disruption, or where we had to,
we worked closely with those affected to
minimise disruption.”
To mitigate the noise and lessen
disruption, Simon took a two-pronged
approach, adopting new, smarter work
methods and using the echo barrier noise
reduction system. Simon said the results
were extremely positive.
