WATER FILLED BARRIERS -

In NSW the rating for Triton barriers
is being reviewed and was expected
to be clarified by March 2012. The
HRIA advises it has been contacted
by WA and Queensland authorities
over the issue. According to the HRIA,
Queensland authorities are assessing
the new test results regarding
deflection and WA are suggesting a
70kph restriction will be introduced.
There is a National Ausroads Safety
Barrier Assessment Panel that includes
all States and a decision was expected
in March. The HRIA will provide updates
on the subject as they come to light.
HRNET
Just before Christmas the HRIA
launched the HRNet portal on its
webpage. This is a joint venture with
employment lawyers Mason Sier
Turnbull (MST). It is a portal, available
to members only, relating to the
Fairwork Act, Model Awards, Industrial
Relations and Human Resources
issues. It is full of relevant information
including templates for employment
or warning letters, it also has a PDF
document on the relevant Modern
Awards and Enterprise Agreements. The
HRIA has also introduced a helpline to
answer any specific ‘people’ problems
members may come across.
The association urges all members
to review the contents and note the
services offered. The HRIA advises the
Fairwork Act is very current and there
are many decisions being given that
may change the way members structure
employment terms and conditions.
