The Height Rider
17 (HR17) Hybrid 4x4
self-propelled boom
lift from Nifty is one
of a new generation
of environmentally
conscious work platforms
combining advanced
power-source technology
from a compact and low-
weight design.
With a working
height of 17m and
unrestricted working
outreach at 225kg of
9.10m, the HR17 Hybrid
4x4, Self-Propelled is
versatile, fuel efficient
and environmentally
conscious.
According to Nifty’s
John King, the launch
is a natural progression
for Nifty, following the
release last year of the
HR21 Hybrid AWD.
On diesel, the HR17 Hybrid 4x4 self-propelled boom lift’s hybrid
system can automatically utilise its electric motor to boost power
when needed. This allows the HR17 Hybrid 4x4 to operate with a
smaller engine, reducing fuel consumption.
Nifty’s hybrid technology allows the selection of electric-only
or hybrid power during operation. On electric only the machine
becomes a ‘zero emission’ machine that can work inside or out in
any environment cleanly and quietly. On hybrid power, the machine
allows the electric motor to automatically assist the diesel engine
when required (eg: climbing a steep slope), boosting the overall
power available. This hybrid technology means the machine can
use a much smaller diesel engine (Kubota 722 - 18Hp) than would
otherwise be required, reducing fuel consumption by up to 50%
(compared to other machines) and reducing running costs.
At all other times the electric motor channels the excess power
from the diesel engine back to the batteries, storing it for when it is
most needed. Due to its efficient design the ‘Diesel Re-Gen’ feature
can charge the batteries up 40% faster than standard mains power,
so the machine can fully re-charge itself in four hours. This means a
Nifty Hybrid can potentially work 24 hours a day, using the electric
motor to work quietly at night and then re-charge during the day-
shift while running on diesel.
Diesel Re-Gen recharges the batteries without a mains power
source and a fast charge is achieved whenever the machine is idle
and the engine is left running. The HR17 Hybrid 4x4self propelled
boom lift also incorporates ToughCage and SiOPS technologies.
The Hybrid technology power pack also incorporates an advanced
exhaust purification system, greatly reducing CO (Carbon Monoxide),
HC (Hydro-Carbons), particulates (soot), and noise emissions allowing
the machine to work in low emission zones.
“All Nifty engines are Tier 4 diesel engines, meeting tough
European emission standards.”
