EQUIPMENT SHOWCASE

Hatz took a downsizing approach to

deliver an extremely compact engine in

the H50 series. The three cylinder, 1.5 litre

3H50TIC and its 3H50TI variant was put

through tests and trials after its global

debut at Bauma and now joins the four

cylinder, 2.0 litre 4H50 in the Australian

market.

Sami Almogawish, Managing Director

of Hatz Diesel Australia, said: “The H50

series represents a new generation of

water-cooled diesel engines. They are the

world’s smallest in their power range, and

are up to 90kg lighter than the nearest

competitor.

"This leads to a very low power-to-weight

ratio and unsurpassed fuel efficiency. The

4H50 is the most efficient engine in the

37-56/62kW class, with fuel consumption

210g/kWh. Fuel consumption is much

lower than any other engine on the

market,” Sami said.

Among the premium components is

H50 diesel engines small in size, big on power

The Hatz Diesel H50 water-cooled engine series expanded in April with the debut of a

three cylinder version at Bauma, in Munich, Germany.

the off-highway Bosch Common Rail

Technology with 1,800 bar injection

pressure. The engine features Bosch parts

– such as a high-pressure pump, injection

controller and off-highway injectors –

combining in a way that leads to minimal

friction, smooth running, quiet operation,

and low-exhaust emissions.

The engines use a diesel oxidation

catalyst (DOC) and even without a diesel

particulate filter (DPF), satisfies strict EPA

Tier 4 standards. Not requiring a DPF has

the added benefit of doing away with

expensive maintenance and downtime.

Sami said the high degree of productivity

is improved thanks to Hatz’s unique

‘conservative-innovative’ philosophy.

“The design is simple, with very few

moving parts and internal friction kept to

a minimum. For example, each of the four

cylinders on the 4H50 engine has only

two valves, resulting in high mechanical

robustness and simplicity.

“This in conjunction with roller tappets

and a lower camshaft, reduces installation

space and gives customers the benefit of

a compact, but high-performing engine.”

Hatz offers in-house customisation to

fit for purpose and pre-delivers before

sale, including running the engine so it is

ready to install and turn-key.

The Crommelins Groundhog Post Hole

Digger is a rugged, yet lightweight, one-

man post hole digging machine powered

by a 4-stroke Subaru engine for long life

performance. The built in ‘slipping clutch’

will disengage when hitting hidden

obstacles and a dead man switch is also

fitted to ensure safety and ease of use for the

operator. Four auger sizes are available 2, 4,

6, 8” (50-200mm).

The 2” and 3” Crommelins Star Picket Drivers

will drive star pickets and poles (up to 3”

in diameter) effortlessly into the hardest of

ground. Also powered by the 4-stroke Subaru

engine for long life performance, along with

high impact driving force and ergonomic

anti-vibration handles, these machines

can be comfortably used for many hours.

Reducer sleeves are available for both units

for a snug fit over the post. A carry cradle is

also available and is an ideal accessory for

storage and transport.
