An incursion of fire ants was detected

near Brisbane Airport. It’s suspected

the fire ants arrived in freight sometime

in the past two years and thanks to a

vigilant report to Biosecurity Queensland

in September last year, it is thought they

haven’t had time to spread far.

A new emergency response is underway

to contain and eradicate the fire ants.
