The cost of renovating a home in
Victoria has surged by 6.5% compared
to last year and rose by nearly twice
the national average, according to the
Renovation Consumer Price Index
(RCPI) quarterly report released by
ServiceSeeking.com.auThe report analysed 52,000 quotes
submitted by tradesmen online and

across 10 popular renovation services in
Victoria year on year which shows the
cost of hiring an electrician in Victoria
rose by 11.7% year on year, tiling and
paving services increased 8.9% and
plumbing rose 7.7% to become the most
expensive renovation trade in the state.
There was some relief though with
flooring and landscaping prices
decreasing by 12.7% and 4.9%.
It will be interesting to see if the hire
industry will see an increase in rental
rates as home handymen and DIY
renovators pick up the slack.
