As the fledging association continued
through its first year, they made plans
to meet for a ‘general convention of
rental operators’ the following January in
Kansas City, Missouri. They decided if the
convention was well received, they would
hold it annually.
No one needs to guess how that first
convention was received. Fast forward
to 2016, where the equipment rental
industry will be celebrating ARA’s 60th
anniversary as well as the 60th annual
convention and trade show in Atlanta at

reward them for their contribution to the

Nic Taylor, Branch Manager at Kennards
Hire in Albany accepted the award from
HIANZ.
“Kennards Hire is a long standing family
business in Australia, but our presence
in New Zealand only dates back three
years,” Nic said.
“We’ve made a really concerted effort to
make an impact on the NZ hire industry
in that time and this Gold Hire Excellence
Award is a wonderful acknowledgement
of the hard work countless Kennards Hire
staff members have put in throughout the
company’s time here.”
Kennards Hire established a presence in
New Zealand three years ago when they

acquired McEntee Hire. Over the past
three years an Auckland-wide rebrand of
McEntee Hire was undertaken. Kennards
Hire then expanded into Wellington
opening a new branch in Newtown
and last year entered the South Island,
acquiring City Hire, a three branch hire
company in Christchurch.
Kennards Hire has continued to improve
through training staff, upgrading
equipment and working hard on customer
service excellence. The development of
the Auckland network has kept Northern
Area Manager, Tom Kimber, very busy.
“Kennards Hire is, first and foremost, a
family business. HIANZ does an excellent
job at upholding many of the values we
consider fundamental in the operation of
our business. It’s a special moment for
Kennards Hire in New Zealand.”

It’s the only place where you can find the

Christine Wehrman, ARA’s CEO said.
