The Baseplan Planning Calendar takes
the hard work out of planning rental
reservations, according to the company.
Two years in the making, the Planning
Calendar builds on the rental availability
engine of Baseplan software, the company
said, adding a visual way to see available
equipment and to match equipment with
skilled operators.
The Planning Calendar extends the
existing day based planning, adding hourly
reservations as well as managing operator
suitability and availability for highly in
demand assets as well as businesses that
need to manage wet hire operations.
Equipment can be selected and matched
to customers, with operators able to be
filtered and suggested based on matching
skills, certificates and client site specific
matches.
Benefits of the Planning Calendar for the
rental industry include:
• Easy management of current and future
Baseplan Planning Calendar for rental
bookings for specific equipment based
on location, makes, types and/or models.
• Additional resources can be viewed, with
operators allocated to equipment based
on license validity and site inductions
obtained.
• Views can be amended on an hourly or
daily basis.
• Equipment and resources can be
transferred between rental agreements,
and/or added to new and existing rental
agreements right from the planner.
• Rental periods for equipment can be
easily extended or reduced with simple
drag and drop.
• Companies can quickly ascertain the
location of equipment and efficiently
match equipment with resources.
• Equipment availability can be quickly
viewed, with unavailability due to
servicing or other factors available.

To satisfy local residential concerns
about noise levels during a number of
excavations underway at Redcliffe in
Queensland, BA Equipment has been
supplying Atlas Copco Hydraulic Breakers
with BBC 34 DSI models.
According to Atlas Copco these breakers
offer the same performance but with a
5dB(A) lower noise level.
The Redcliffe excavation sites are close
to residential areas and complaints from
residents about drilling noise levels could
threaten the excavation site permits.
Environmental pressure in the area is
strong, and noise levels are a threat.
BA Equipment Group worked
with Timms Haulage, an excavator on
site, and conducted field tests using the
BBC 34 DSI as an alternative to the BBD
94 DSI machines. The ground conditions
varied from semi fractured to very hard
rock. Timms Haulage used the Atlas Copco
HB3100 after experiencing difficulties with
other Breakers.
“Within the first hour of operation, the
operator was impressed by the speed in
which he was able to break through and
bulk out the material,” Torres Marques,
Business Line Manager, Atlas Copco
Portugal said.
“The company’s excavator operator for
the trial commented on the low noise
and low vibration from the Vibro-silenced
system of the Atlas breaker,” Torres said.

“He was also impressed by the Auto-
Control feature which automatically
controls the impact energy and the impact
frequency rate, ensuring maximum impact
performance and blow frequency in
varying ground conditions.”
“The field tests showed the BBC 34 DSI
provides the same penetration rate as the
BBD 94 DSI, but with a noise reduction of
5dB(A), experienced by the human ear as a
50% lower noise level,” Torres said.
“The BBC 34 DSI pneumatic rock drill has
a piston diameter of 80mm, a stroke of
70mm, and rifle bar rotation mechanism. It
delivers high impact energy per blow and
is efficient in medium to hard rock.”
