Skyreach has taken
delivery of its first
63ft Skyjack SJ63AJ
articulating rough
terrain boom lift.
According to
Rod Leech, MD
of Skyreach: “The
platform height of
19.38m is right in the
sweet spot demanded
by contractors. The SJ
63AJ has a working
height of 21.2m
(69’7”) a horizontal
reach of 12.2m (40’)
and an up-and-over clearance
of 8.4m (27’6”),” Rod said.
In the workplace, the 360°
turret rotation and zero
tail swing allow for flexible
operation in tight locations.
This compliments the superior
positive traction and axle based
4WD carrier.

New knuckle boom for Skyreach
The SJ 63AJ features a unique
open centre knuckle riser
design for improved visibility,
compact dimensions and low-
reach capability, providing a
stowed height of 2.54m as well
as below ground reach. Overall
machine weight is 9.6 tonnes,
allowing two units to be
carried on a standard 20 tonne
trailer.
Dual lifting cylinders
provide superior
comfort and stability
while also maintaining
true vertical rise which
prevents drifting
forward or backwards.
“The big appeal of
the The SJ 63AJ is the
compact footprint
on the work site.
Combined with the
zero tail swing feature,
this model is very safe
to operate in congested
locations,” Rod said.
Based in Caboolture,
Queensland, Skyreach is a
family owned, Australian
business with branch offices in
Queensland, providing aerial
lifts and telehandlers for rent.

SECONDARY GUARDING
SYSTEMS FROM SKYJACK
Skyjack Division has released two
options in secondary guarding
(additional protective measures
taken following a job-specific risk
assessment, to reduce the potential
for sustained inadvertent operation in
the event of collision with an external
object), by introducing the SG-M and
SG-E secondary guarding mechanisms.
This allows the user to select the most
appropriate solution.
The Skyjack SG-M system features a
low weight protective steel structure
designed to reduce the possibility of
the operator being held against the
controls in the event of unintended
contact with an obstruction.
The Skyjack SG-E system features
a sensor bar that, when pushed,
instantly stops all functions and
initiates an audible siren and high
intensity flashing beacon. If the bar
is released within one second, the
siren and beacon will cease, and the
selected function will return.
If pressure is applied for more than
one second, the siren and beacon will
continue to activate and the engine
will stop, halting all functions until
reset. Both the SG-E and SG-M can
be fitted on new Skyjack booms or
retrofitted to models manufactured in
2006 and after.
Aspac, these new developments
mean Aspac now has the
largest range of tracked spider
lifts in the world .
“We are soon to release the
tallest tracked spider lift in the
world - 52m – which will carry
the catch phrase “Eyes to the
Sky”,” Martin said.
The company is also
undergoing a major rebranding
and has relaunched its website.
The site features new online
operator training videos with
completion certification. Aspac
is also launching an initiative
for the hire industry, offering
scheduled staff training to be
available nationally.
