Continuing their growth throughout New
Zealand, Kennards Hire has introduced
two specialist branches, Concrete Care
and Lift & Shift, to reinforce its service and
equipment range at East Tamaki.
The two specialist branches are a part of
the larger Kennards Hire specialist network
in Australia that includes Traffic, Rail, and
Pump & Power, and Test & Measure. The
specialist branches service industrial and
trade sectors with a range of professional
equipment and expertise.
Kennards Hire Lift & Shift offers equipment
to help move heavy loads, access tight
spaces, manoeuvre bulky goods, and shift
high volumes of material efficiently. They
boast a highly trained team of people with
an abundance of technical advice and
specialised equipment.
Concrete Care is a specialist business
that caters to surface preparation jobs
and also provides equipment and service
for concrete cutting and sawing, drilling,
surface cleaning,
concrete
placement,
demolitions,
and diamond
products.
Notable examples
of the specialist
work include a job
in February 2013,
in Moorebank,
NSW, where

shot blaster to The Superseal Group to help
them prepare 2400sqm of concrete for a
new topping. Tight deadlines were set for
the job and the wide 40cm blast width of
the ride-on unit enabled it to be completed
efficiently.
More recently, Kennards Hire Lift & Shift
equipment was used to remove over 110
cubic metres of rock from a 600sqm man-
made lake in Brisbane, QLD.
Kennards Hire provided five portable six-
metre conveyor belts, a two-tonne tipper
truck as well as a flexdrive pump to drain
the lake and complete the project.
While the specialist Concrete Care and
Lift & Shift equipment has only been
introduced to the general hire branch at
East Tamaki, the increasing demand for
specialist equipment in Australia suggests
the network will continue to grow through
New Zealand with stand-alone branches
servicing new areas and industries.

Hoppt supports Rural Fire Service
According to the International Powered
Access Federation (IPAF) there are
now 1,020,000 mobile elevating work
platforms (MEWPs) in the worldwide
rental fleet. This is up 6% from the
previous year, mainly driven by growth
in Asia and Latin America, new research
commissioned by IPAF has revealed.
The US AWP rental market rebounded
with strong growth of 9% in 2013 to reach
approximately $7.2 billion, according
to the IPAF US Powered Access Rental
Market Report 2014. The US AWP rental
fleet expanded by 6% in 2013. US rental
companies used all levers to improve
revenue in 2013: expanding fleets and
improving rental rates, while enhancing
utilisation rates.
For the first time, IPAF has conducted
research on China, which registered
20% growth. The trend is set to
continue in this market where there are
approximately 6,000 MEWPs, and scissor
lifts make an estimated 65% of the fleet.
The European MEWP rental market in the
10 countries surveyed (Denmark, Finland,
France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands,
Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK )
remained stable in 2013 (+0%) and is
estimated at approximately
2.3 billion,
according to the IPAF European Powered
Access Rental Market Report 2014.
The European rental market shows mixed
results and is marked by three groups:
those who struggled in 2013 (Spain,
the Netherlands, Italy, Finland, and to a
lesser extent Denmark and France), those
who slightly increased rental revenues
(Sweden and the UK), and those who
experienced significant growth (Germany
and Norway).
