HIRE AND RENTAL NEWS • FEBRUARY 2016

EARTHMOVING & MINI EQUIPMENT

It produces 55.4kW of power at 2,200/rpm

and 300Nm of torque at 1,500/rpm and

meets Tier 4 Final/Stage-3B emissions

regulations using just a diesel oxidation

catalyst (DOC) rather than a diesel

particulate filter (DPF), reducing servicing

and running costs, making it more frugal

than the outgoing Tier-3 models.

“This loading shovel is the perfect tool

carrier,” Greg Sealey, JCB CEA National

Product Manager said.

“It’s compact, which gives it versatility on

a range of sites, as well as being highly

productive and extremely safe, reliable

and comfortable. It also offers JCB’s

straightforward serviceability, which is

so important when the job is running

to a tight schedule. The hydrostatic

AWD makes these models very easy

to use, even for someone who is not an

experienced operator,” Greg said.

“Low rev power and torque means there’s

less risk of overpowering the machine at

a cost to fuel economy.”

Greg said JCB CEA offers several axle

options on the JCB 409ZX including open

diffs for hard ground and limited slip diffs

Versatile all-rounder added to wheel loader range

JCB Construction Equipment Australia (CEA) has expanded its wheel loader range,

with the 409ZX a compact, versatile, wheel loader fitted with a turbo-charged

2.5-litre, four-cylinder JCB Diesel by Kohler engine.

for soft muddy terrain.

“Our 100% switchable front

axle diff lock option provides

ultimate traction on mud

and doesn’t create any shear

forces, so it won’t damage the

ground when it’s not in use.

It can also be engaged on the

move and under load.

“The bottom line is, this is

a flexible machine that gets

the job done. It’s powerful yet

easy to operate and service,

and extremely fuel efficient.

The 409ZX is also safe and

secure, designed to protect its

operators and anyone in the

vicinity, as well as itself.

“To keep the machine secure, a new

immobiliser option is available, providing

security and prevention of theft. There’s

an in-cab quick-hitch isolation system

to prevent attachments being released

without proper control,” Greg said.

“Bearing in mind a comfortable, confident

operator is a more productive employee,

JCB has tailored the cabin to optimal

comfort, including maximum space,

minimal noise levels and efficient heating

and air conditioning,” Greg said.

The operating position takes advantage of

the external design, allowing for all-round

visibility, while all the instruments are

within easy reach of the ergonomically-

designed seat, steering column and

joystick control. Contact: 02 8788 8513 or

The high torque specifications for screw

piling meant he needed more hydraulic

power, so he invested in a new Takeuchi

TB260 excavator equipped with a Digga

PD15 auger drive. Jed has run up to a

900mm diameter auger bit with a drilling

depth of over 4.5m.

Hydraulic flow needed to be increased

to deliver the 15,000Nm torque required

for screw piling, so Takeuchi distributor

Semco said it installed a switch that links

all the hydraulic pumps on the TB260

excavator to increase hydraulic output for

maximum flow. A visual pressure gauge

within the cabin of the excavator allows

the operator to monitor the hydraulic

pressure delivered to the auger drive.

“The excavator operator is able to switch

between standard or combined pump

Excavator and auger combo boosts piling capability

modes. Valves on the pumps limit flow

to ensure sufficient hydraulic

operating power is left in reserve

for other functions,” Jed said.

“Most of the earthwork involves

drilling into the typical soft clay

found in the coastal region,

however we sometimes have to

use our rock drill when the going

gets tough. The combination of

the TB260 with its ample power

has added to the productivity of

the business. Since purchasing

the equipment in April this year,

the equipment has been running

trouble-free every day. Even when

using our existing standard auger,

we have doubled the speed of our

drilling operation”, Jed said.
