Vermeer has added to its family of mini
skid steers with the S450TX which can
accommodate a wide range of attachments
and has a 226.8kg SAE-rated operating
capacity with a 648.6kg tipping capacity.
Vermeer has incorporated a four-
pump hydraulic system, which provides
performance and efficiency when powering
attachments. A single pilot-operated
joystick is now integrated into the S450TX
platform, making the machine easy to
manoeuvre and operate and giving the
operator a smooth range of operation
without need to balance the engagement
of two separate controls.
The S450TX can be customised with the
choice of engine and track options. The
Kubota 24.8hp (18.2kW) diesel engine and
Kohler EFI 27hp (19.9kW) petrol engine
provide excellent torque performance and
are designed for attachments requiring
greater engine torque.
A Kohler EFI 27hp (19.9kW) gas engine
offers lower fuel consumption, easier
maintenance, improved starting due to
the elimination of the choke and cleaner
New mini loader tipping muscle
emissions. A 7inch (17.8cm) track provides
a smaller machine footprint for tight work
areas. The standard 9 inch-wide (22.9cm)
track offers reduced ground pressure
for increased flotation and stability. The
S450TX is designed with a spring-cushioned
platform that features cushioning on the
front and side for additional support when
working in rough terrain. An operator
presence system suspends ground drive and
attachment motion if the operator steps
off the machine. LED lighting for warning
lights offer visibility while a rear panel and
side shields permit quicker maintenance.

CONVENTION PREVIEW
Genie recently issued a safety alert
relating to checking a number of EWPs
fitted with oscillating axles. It is a global
alert and highlights again the problems
with ‘grey’ imports in Australia.
Phil Newby, EWPA Executive Director
said: “Genie Australia knows who they
have sold to and which EWPs on the list are
officially in Australia. What Genie doesn’t
know is if some of the EWPs are imported
into Australia as non-compliant grey
imports and then passed off as Australian
conforming units.
SAFETY ALERT - GENIE & GREY IMPORTS
Owners of these grey EWPs, unless they
registered the unit with Genie when they
bought it, will have no idea of the safety
alert and will soldier on blissfully unaware
of the dangers in their EWP.
As an industry we all work hard to
maintain owned EWPs to the required
safety standards but grey imports appear
to be flouting these rules.”
The EWPA is redoubling its efforts to
make all users aware of the risks of buying
EWPs that do not conform to regulations
and miss updated safety alerts and more.
