INDUSTRY IN FOCUS
The Karratha branch is busy
“There is so much work here in WA, it is
important people in the industry continue
to work together and set a good standard
for the industry overall. Belonging to the
association helps people work together,”
Karen said.
Karen who recently took up the role
of Sales and Operations Manager, has set
Brooks Hire goals as focusing on ensuring
quality; gaining accreditation in safety
and training and encouraging good staff
business practices.
“We have a fantastic, keen team and
we’re growing and continuing to get
better,” Karen said.
“We want to provide the best service
possible for our customers and part of that
is ensuring all our staff are well trained.
“This is a great company to work for. I
love working in a family business. One of
the best things about working for a family
business is the ability to access management
opinion and advice immediately. We
can respond quickly and make decisions
immediately when we need to.”
“We’re in a growth period right now
and recently put on another 10 people or
you could say, added another 30% to the
payroll,” Doug said.
“We’re growing the business and are very
safety conscious and want to offer good
practice to our staff.
“If we get another good year out of the
mining sector then we should be able to
continue to offer good incentives to our
staff into the future.”
Doug has three adult children working
in the business. His son Stuart is the office
manager; son Keith is a mechanic in
the workshop and his daughter Lenore
is working in the office while studying
commerce at university.
“All the kids are showing an interest in
the family business which is good to see
otherwise I’d have to be considering selling.
“For now we’ll keep expanding and build
a strong future for our people.”
