Tax changes for contractors in building and construction
John Leonard, Assistant
Commissioner, Australian
Taxation Office, said these new
reporting requirements create
a level playing field.
“
Contractors who fail to
meet their tax obligations can
gain an unfair competitive
advantage.We will use the
information reported to detect
contractors who have not
lodged tax returns or failed
to include all their income in
returns lodged.
“
We are asking contractors
in this industry to make sure
they include all their income
in their tax return to avoid any
penalties,” Mr Leonard said.

is your Honda an imposter?
Engines with ground down or defaced serial numbers may not be a genuine Honda engine, are not covered
by Honda’s warranty, are not supported by Honda’s servicing dealer network and parts backup, and may be
counterfeit or stolen. To all customers before you buy, check the engine number to ensure it has not been defaced.
You wouldn’t buy a car without a Vehicle Identification Number, so why buy an engine without a serial number?
