Digga Australia’s Mulcher attachment
for skid steers and excavators offers
an alternative to back burning for fire
prevention.
The Digga Mulcher is an hydraulically
driven attachment suitable for use
with high flow skid steer loaders and
excavators up to 20 tonnes. It can clear
tall weeds, heavy brush and hardwood
trees up to 8 inches (20cm) in diameter.
With its ability to mulch the debris back
into the soil for faster decomposition, the
Digga Mulcher is also used for park and
forestry trail maintenance works.
The process of mulching debris is
achieved in two passes,” Lionel Smitka,
Digga Australia’s Marketing Manager
said. “The first, forward driven pass cuts
and breaks down the material into small
chips via four rows of teeth, with each
row of teeth positioned at a 90 degree
angle to the next row. The teeth are
designed to cut across the entire length
of the rotor resulting in less drag and
reduced horsepower consumption.
The second reverse pass picks up the
cut material and breaks it down to the
optimum size, throwing it back into the
ground for faster decomposition.”
With adjustable skid plates, hammer
to ground impact during mulching
operations can be reduced as required.
The Mulcher is actually tuned to the
host machine on delivery to optimise the
drum rotation at 2,000rpm,” Lionel said.
The Digga Mulcher has a push type
adaptor sleeve protecting the rotor shaft
from coming loose in the event of a heavy
shock or unintended axial load.
There is a model exclusively for use on
skid steer loaders, one for excavators and
one which is suitable for both,” he said.

Reducing fire hazards
Nationwide Towing & Transport has
operated for over 40 years providing
towing and transport services and utilises
the benefits of Mobile Data Terminal (MDT)
that enables jobs to be dispatched direct to
the truck.
Initially concentrating on the towing
and transportation of cars, Nationwide
has evolved to encompass all types of
machinery transport, from portable on
site toilets, elevated work platforms, small
earth moving equipment through to 30
tonne excavators. The company motto is:
Anything, Anywhere, Anytime – Safely”.
All Nationwide Towing & Transport trucks
are fitted with a functional MDT. As the
job progresses the status is updated via the
MDT and updates relayed to dispatchers.
This model ensures Nationwide views
Mobile data terminals monitor work
the progress of work in real time. All of the
systems and human resources are supported
on a 24/7 basis. The Customer Service Centre
operates 24/7 and is always available to
accept bookings and dispatch work.
Nationwide Towing & Transport has held
Quality Management Systems accreditation
since 1996. Current accreditation is held
under ISO 9001:2008 standards.
Nationwide also holds accreditation
under AS/NZS 4801:2001 standards for
Occupational Health & Safety management
systems. Both accreditations cover the
provision of towing services, roadside
breakdown recovery and transportation.
The fleet of almost 300 trucks is as diverse
as the requirements of their customers.
Tilt-slide tray trucks of 4, 7 and 11 tonne
capacity comprise the majority of the fleet.
Many of these are wide body vehicles.
Prime movers and trailers are the big
guns of the machinery fleet. The Mega
tilts have 40 foot usable decks and a load
capacity up to 30 tonnes.
Nationwide is equipped to transport any
type of machinery or access equipment
from portable toilets through to 30 tonne
excavators.
Nationwide offer customers a door to
door service and will pick up and deliver to
any location accessible to the fleet.
Nationwide has operations in Victoria

Traxx Construction Products’ newest
model Grinder, the SC1000RC is a stable
machine made for grinding large areas.
The Traxx Scan Combiflex 1000RC
combines the strength between the
grinding method with six grind plates
rotating on a large plate that rotates in
the opposite direction, with possibilities to
grind with higher speed and more weight.
Traxx has a patented operating system for
stable, even grinding. Radio control allows
the operator to concentrate on emptying
the dust separator and managing cables
while the machine is working.
According to Traxx, battery operation
with charger is another advantage, making
it easy to load and unload the machine.
Traxx has also designed the operating
system and radio control ergonomically
to avoid the operator being subjected to
Grinding on a big scale
vibrations and load injury.
Traxx recommends the SD6000 vacuum
system, as the perfect match for its large
grinders.
