establishing board

Tolmie as the new CEO

taking over from Peter.

“Now Peter Lancken is

back as Chairman of the

Board.

“In the early days,

there was no plan, we

just did it as we saw fit

and Nev and I ran the

business that way for 27

years.

“From a management

perspective, when we

wanted to step out of

the business we brought

in general managers

from outside to operate

the business for us. We

didn’t have kids at the

right age at that point

to step into the role for

us, and we advised our

kids after that, if they

wanted to work in the

family business that is

their right, but they might

never become CEO. We

explained we needed to keep the best person in the management

role. We lowered our kid’s expectations of where they might be in the

family business and they understood that.
