Kennards Hire Grows NZ Network Ahead of 10-year Anniversary

In the lead-up to its 10th anniversary in New Zealand, family-owned equipment hire company, Kennards Hire, has announced the acquisition of Smiths Hire, a successful hire business in Kaiapoi.

Expanding into the Waimakariri district, one of the fastest growing regions in New Zealand, the new 7,000sqm site makes it the largest Kennards Hire branch on the South Island. The new branch will combine Pump & Power, Traffic and general hire equipment, creating a distribution centre-style branch to service the local Belfast region and beyond.

Belfast’s new Branch Manager Daniel Manning, said, “This is such an exciting time for Kennards Hire in New Zealand. It is great to see a family-owned business evolve to bring their customers and communities everything they need to facilitate their projects, big or small. The Kaiapoi region has a long-standing history as an important trading centre. Kennards Hire is honouring that by making the new branch a true trading hub by bringing a vast range of equipment and services to the area.”

With over 15 years of hire industry experience, Daniel started his career with Kennards Hire over eight years ago at the company’s Wigram Branch, before taking on the Belfast role as Branch Manager. He will now lead the team of 13 equipment hire experts, many of whom previously worked at Smiths Hire and chose to join the Kennards Hire family following the acquisition.

“There is so much potential in our business for people who are keen to have a go and take advantage of the many career opportunities available. We are excited to have the experienced team from Smiths Hire join the family as Kennards Hire continues to expand its network across the South Island,” shared Daniel.

The team is committed to building partnerships in the community, continuing its current work with their KidsCan Buddy Program schools from the Papanui branch which has relocated to Belfast, and looking to link with further schools within the local community. Through the school Buddy Program there will be potential for the branch to assist with working bees, beautification projects, fundraising activities and the general upkeep of local school grounds.

As Kaiapoi’s population is expected to continue its rapid growth, this branch will aim to provide the budding municipal with everything its residents need to complete their favourite DIY projects and home renovations through to equipment that can support the new commercial and infrastructure projects that will bolster the region as its population skyrockets.

Having entered the New Zealand market in November 2012 following the acquisition of McEntee Hire, Kennards Hire’s latest branch opening in Belfast comes as it gets ready to celebrate its 10th year of operation in New Zealand.
