EQUIPMENT GUIDE TO 2019 New air-cooled compressor model has heat recovery The first air-cooled oil-free compressor to offer heat recovery for process water has been released by Gardner Denver, with the air-cooled model capable of recovering up to 98% of heat generated during compression. T he new version of its Ultima technology has a patented closed package cooling system which means the energy captured when compressing air can be used to provide process water heating, delivering usable water temperatures of up to 85°C, according to Dr David Bruchof, Product Manager for Industrial Compressors at Gardner Denver. “Its hybrid cooling capabilities offer extra flexibility for the user too. Operators can choose between air-cooling, water-cooling or both, depending on the most economic means of cooling at the time. For example, air-cooling might be more cost-effective to use during the winter period, as the heated cooling air can then be re-purposed for space heating in a facility. On the other hand, during summer months, when there is no demand for space heating, a water- cooled operating mode might be more economic,” David said. Features include oil-free airends with a special coating to help protect the machinery and avoid performance degradation; noise levels not exceeding 70dB(A) for the air-cooled model; a requirement of up to 37% less floor space than a conventional two-stage oil-free compressor; and internal cooling means adjacent compressors can be sited close to one another. “Ultima is available with a pressure range from 4 to 10 bar, volume flow from 6.7 to 23.9m 3 / min at 8 bar, and motor power from 75 to 160kW. The technology is also equipped with iConn, Gardner Denver’s digital analytics platform, helping operators to measure, optimise and improve compressed air usage,” David said. “The Ultima compressor also features two efficient, permanent magnetic motors that replace the traditional gearbox set-up. These variable-speed motors can achieve speeds of up to 22,000RPM and efficiencies greater than IE4. The Ultima compressors are oil and silicone free, and meet ISO 8573-1 Class Zero. n Visit: www.compair.com The new Ultima technology has a patented closed package cooling system New materials handling products custom built With over 35 years’ experience in the design and manufacture of lifting equipment, East West Engineering’s specialised design division designs and develops equipment to improve workplace performance and productivity. “C ustom designed equipment improves reliability, extends operating life, reduces system downtime and increases the overall productivity and safety of material handling on site,” East West Engineering owner Ron King said. Three of its new products this year include: the XZQ 360° Rotator which is designed to increase the functionality of forklifts; the CPC Concrete Washout Bin; and the QHF400 Quick Hitch Floating Carriage designed for telehandlers and loader machines. The XZQ 360° Rotator is designed to increase the functionality of forklifts to hydraulically rotate loads while retaining the standard forklift use to handle palletised and conventional loads. East West Engineering has expanded its range of rotators to fit a range of machinery and applications because it has seen an increased demand for rotators to be fitted for forklift and other machinery. “Rotators provide greater functionality and flexible handling operations by allowing loads to be hydraulically rotated while retaining the standard forklift use to handle palletised and conventional loads.” The XZQ 360° rotator can be used to turn load or pour load’s content; has continuous 360° rotation in both directions; it has a concealed drive motor for added protection; and offers excellent operator visibility. The CPC Concrete Washout Bin is a safe, effective on-site solution for handling line cleans of boom and line concrete pumps, Ron said. “Designed for optimal safety, its heavy-duty construction with waste intake pipe and air vent removes the risk of injury caused by blowouts during line cleaning. Available in three options, the containment bin ensures EPA compliance by preventing pollution from run off and cleanly stores cement waste. Disposable concrete washout plastic liners are available,” Ron said. “After a concrete pour, boom and line concrete pumps must do a line clean to remove concrete waste before it sets. Water is used to clean the line, but it is critical for the water and concrete waste to be contained to ensure EPA compliance by preventing pollution from run off,” Ron said. The QHF400 Quick Hitch Floating Carriage is designed for telehandlers and loader machines fitted with a ‘quick hitch’ or tool carrier and is custom manufactured to suit each truck carriage. The fork tines are pin mounted to ‘self-level’ when the machine is operating on uneven ground, Ron said. The QHF400 Quick Hitch Floating Carriage is fitted with 125 x 50mm fork tines with a length of 1200mm individually designed to suit the quick hitch carriage and with tine locking pins safety chained to framework. n Contact: 02 9938 0644 or visit: www.eastwesteng.com.au The XZQ 360° Rotator is designed to increase the functionality of forklifts The CPC Concrete Washout Bin is an on-site solution for handling line cleans of boom and line concrete pumps The Quick Hitch Floating Carriage is designed for telehandlers and loader machines P70 HIRE AND RENTAL NEWS MAY 2019
