EQUIPMENT GUIDE TO 2019 Toyota turret trucks a cool choice for air-con maker A pair of Toyota BT Vector VCE150A turret trucks form part of a new 21-strong all-electric fleet of Toyota Material Handling equipment at the new Marsden Park, NSW ActronAir air- conditioning manufacturer warehouse. D evelopment of the new headquarters, expanded warehouse and distribution facility rose from the business’ constant growth, ActronAir National Warehouse and Logistics Manager, Mark Horan said. “Our old site opened at Bella Vista 15 years ago. With double-digit growth in manufacturing over six of the past eight years, we have grown quickly and remain focused on being a superior heating and cooling solutions brand. “Our new warehouse at Marsden Park is 2.5 times the size of our old one, but even with the new 25,000m 2 facility, we still needed to use the space as efficiently and productively as possible. “We knew of course that to squeeze out every bit of usable warehousing space we needed very narrow aisles and to rack as highly, as safely, possible. However, our business is quite unique in that a lot of our air-conditioning equipment is custom-made and requires non-standard pallet sizes and storage racks.” ActronAir sought a material handling partner to advise on the specialised equipment required. Unusually, the Toyota BT turret trucks and other Toyota Material Handling equipment was specified and optioned before any ground was broken to build the warehouse. “Unlike other places where you design and build your storage system and then put in your material handling equipment, we went the other way around,” Mark said. “The detailed design for the warehouse was set around the capabilities of the equipment. So the Toyota turret trucks did help optimise the warehouse design.” With tight and accurate turning between aisles, the Toyota BT Vector VCE150A turret trucks bring full Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) functionality in an extremely compact footprint, and have a choice of chassis and cab widths. Toyota Material Handling Australia major account manager, Michael Marks, said the collaborative process with ActronAir is an example of a key pillar of the Toyota Advantage – Tailored Business Solutions – put into practice. TMHA’s Tailored Business Solutions included arrangements for ActronAir to experience its turret trucks operating first-hand at another Toyota BT turret truck customer’s site. TMHA also met the warehouse’s go-live date. Other Toyota Material handling equipment specified by ActronAir included: 12 x Toyota BT Reflex RRE160H high reach forklift trucks; five x OSE120CB low-level ride-on pallet- runner/order-picker; one x 8FBJ35 and one x 8FBN30 counterbalance 4-wheel forklifts. n Contact: 1800 425 438 or visit: www.toyotamaterialhandling.com.au Makinex moves into Hybrid Power Solutions Makinex has launched its Hybrid Power Solutions to achieve more cost effective and efficient power, offering environmentally friendly power solutions that reduce noise and emissions on construction sites. “Often worksites require power 24 hours a day even when no one is there and running large powerful petrol or diesel generators to do this is inefficient and expensive,’ Makinex CEO, Rory Kennard said. Makinex Hybrid Power Solutions can be tailored to suit site requirements, Rory said. “You can combine the Makinex Small 10kVA Diesel quiet series generator or your own machine with the Portable Battery Power Box and solar panels to produce continuous power during downtime enabling companies to power site loads such as sheds, lighting and amenities without having to run noisy and expensive generators,” Rory said. “Each part of the Hybrid Solution can be used in a variety of configurations to give flexible power solutions; the solar panels are a great environmentally friendly solution to power the system on larger sites. “Ultimately the load generated is managed through software that ensures the battery and solar are used when possible and the generator is turned on only when the battery power gets low or extra power is required. n Visit: www.makinex.com Aussie’s best pressure cleaner gets better With an all stainless steel frame and trolley base, the industrial Honda powered high pressure water cleaner, the Aussie Super Scud 400 is built in-house by Australian Pump Industries. The ‘sharp free’ ergonomic frame is fitted with four ‘off-road’ style steel wheels with flat free tyres and the Super Scud 400 produces 4,000psi pressure and 13 litres per minute flow. It has a slow speed TTL Italian Bertolini gearbox drive triplex pump featuring ceramic pistons and a ribbed crankcase that ensures the machine runs cool even in continuous run applications. The valve caps are fitted with a new Bertolini sealing system designed for higher pressure and longer working hours, Aussie Pumps’ Chief Engineer, John Hales said. Super Scud features include a Honda 13hp GX390 engine plus Aussie’s safety pack which includes a thermal dump valve, a safety valve that will blow off in the event of a pressure spike. Included as standard is a heavy duty gun/lance combination that provides the operator with complete control of the machine with a trigger lock that prevents accidental activation, John said. “This is the latest evolution of the professional contractor Scud series,” John said. “The ergonomics and stainless steel frame give this machine a real edge. The company is in the process of a product launch on an international market. n Visit: www.aussiepumps.com.au The Toyota turret trucks enabled Actron Air to build its new warehouse with very narrow aisles Aussie’s new 4,000psi ‘Super Scud’ P68 HIRE AND RENTAL NEWS MAY 2019
