ACCESS IN ACTION Skyreach celebrates 25 years in 2019 Started by Rod Leech in 1994 as a true pioneer in the access industry in Australia when the likes of GKN Light Access, Wreckair and Linmac were still in operation, Skyreach is this year celebrating 25 years in Australia. S kyreach has grown to become a large specialist access equipment rental company on the east coast with branches in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Caboolture, Yatala, Dalby, Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne. A majority stake was acquired by the Nishio Rent All Company three years ago and the company has since been focused on the disposal of its older fleet, replacing those with brand new machines. This is unlike many other rental companies, who have been performing 10 year rebuilds on some of their fleet, James Nightingale, National Sales Manager at Skyreach said. “This has meant by the end of 2018 Skyreach’s average fleet age was less than three years and we are continuing to replace old with new machines,” James said. “The fleet we are buying comes from our current North American and European partner OEMs and these machines are being fitted with the latest systems and accessories, including white cap or non-marking tyres; OEM crush protection systems; on-board generators; load sensing; and telematics. “We supply some highly specialised machines, including • Under Bridge Boomlift – to access under a bridge or down the side of a batter; • Track Mounted Boomlift – for navigating particularly soft or challenging terrain; • Drill Rig Boomlift – allowing drilling at up to 86ft – we supply the system, you supply the drill. “We are also acquiring more specialist niche machines, for example • Athena Track Mounted Scissor lift – for use on slopes of up to 20 degrees; • MEC Speed Level Scissor lift – for use on slopes of up to 14 degrees; • MEC 60ft Scissor lift – providing a working height of over 20m; • NiftyLift Light Weight Knuckle Boom – heights from 12m up to 21m, including the SD210 which has outriggers and can operate on slopes of up to 10 degrees; and • CTE SpiderLift – lightweight machines designed for access to tight areas but still offering up to a 23m working height. “Over the next 25 years Skyreach will continue to be a pioneer by continually researching new equipment and solutions and providing the latest equipment fitted with the latest safety features,” James said. n Contact: 1800 457 145 or visit: www.skyreach.com.au Confined area access to taller heights Monitor Lifts said its Monitor 2714 Spider Lift is like an 80ft knuckle boom that can be driven through an 890mm wide doorway and weighs only 5t. “T he Monitor 2714 Spider Lift has been a real winner since its Australian launch in October 2017 and it has so many features,” Ben Joyce, General Manager at Monitor Lifts said. “Its on-board Lithium battery system provides almost silent, emission free use. This feature is a real game changer when positioning the machine inside or around buildings where noise is to be kept to a minimum,” Ben said. “The beauty of Lithium is how fast it charges, how long a full charge lasts and also the fact it is maintenance free, unlike standard batteries. Monitor Lifts has sold many Spider Lifts over the past six years with Lithium batteries, and are well experienced in this field. “The radio control unit is ergonomic and simple to use. All functions are fully proportional and several aerial functions can be performed simultaneously. You can ‘auto-level’ the stabiliser legs with one button and even fully stow the booms with the ‘go-home’ button.” The function speeds are fast, making for quick set up times and productive work times he said. “The variable position outrigger system is brilliant. Even with all outriggers in the narrow position, the 2714 Spider Lift will provide full working height with full SWL and 360 degrees of slew. If you are setting up in tight areas, or in and around obstacles, this feature will be a game changer,” Ben said. The Monitor 2714 Spider Lift comes standard with: • 27m working height; • 15m horizontal working outreach; • 10m of up-and-over reach; • 230 kg SWL, with two man capacity; • Stows to 890mm wide; • Removable platform (reduces length and width for extremely tight access); • Only 1.99m tall; • Fully radio controlled; • Fast and smooth proportional controls, with ability to operate several functions simultaneously; • High speed Auto level, with long outrigger travel; • Variable position outriggers; • Still achieve full 360° rotation when legs are in narrow position; • Go-home auto-stow feature; • 4 speed drive; • Expanding tracks for increased stability; • Non-marking rubber tracks; • Platform rotation; • Electric emergency lowering system; • Powerful Kubota diesel engine; and • On board Lithium Battery system. n Contact: 1800 025 024 or visit: www.monitor.net.au Skyreach has grown to become a large specialist access equipment rental company Monitor Lifts 2714 spider lift offers unbeatable confined area access P42 ACCESS IN ACTION MAY 2019
