LIGHTING New website lights up lighting tower options To serve its growing market in its biggest export market, Australia, Morris Site Machinery has launched a dedicated website to showcase its lighting towers via its key sales, service and aftersales partner, Access Service Australia. T he new website – smclightandpower. com.au – will provide details on lighting towers across Ultimate, Standard and Eco ranges, offering customers low voltage, fuel efficient, economical and environmentally-friendly solutions, as well as information on its extensive SMC range. Morris Site Machinery has been developing and supplying lighting solutions to meet the demanding rigours of Australian terrain and temperatures and its health and safety requirements for 15 years. In the past 12 months Morris Site Machinery has supplied customers with the latest SMC Ultimate light tower with run times close to 300 hours, Extra Low Voltage Models, anti-glare HALO soft light LEDs and SMC Solar/ Battery Lighting Towers with 500 hours runtime achievable from the batteries alone. International Business Director Phil Winnington said: “The new website for Australia was a logical step because it is such an important and growing market for us. We understand its needs and have built strong ties over the years by developing innovative, robust and reliable equipment. “We offer Australian customers great quality at every level and are excited about spreading the word about a range of lighting towers that truly delivers.” n Visit: smclightandpower.com.au LED lights up everywhere with no bulbs, no heat and instant start Australian family owned business Orb Engineering Services provides energy saving portable LED Lighting, LED Lighting Towers, LED Balloon Lights and renewable energy solutions with brands including the award winning range from Lind Equipment, 8:12 Illumination, SetoLite and PowerOak all backed by a three year international warranty. J oe Puglisi, National Sales Manager for Orb Engineering said the company has achieved major successes in recent years. “In 2016 Orb was engaged in project management for a contract in the Netherlands to commission an electrical power station of over 50MW for the new Microsoft Data Center,” Joe said. “In early 2017 Orb embarked on a successful renewable energy research and development project which encompassed the integration of renewable technologies onto a mobile platform for power generation. This technology included solar panels, wind turbines, a lithium battery bank and control system. The output of the program was the market release of the Renewable Energy Generator (REG) Trailer. “In 2018, HVAC & Power Solutions FZE were appointed as our agent for the Middle East region to provide customers with innovative choices when considering Construction LED Lighting Towers, LED Balloon lighting and LED Work Lights. HVAC & Power Solutions FZE are active in the following countries: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar and UAE. “Our service includes a free lighting plan to help customers identify the best lighting solution,” Joe said. Brian Astl, President of Lind Equipment said Lind Equipment’s LE980LED large area light can replace a traditional 1000-watt metal- halide light with only 200 watts of energy draw representing an 80% energy reduction in a product that eliminates bulb or ballast changes. “To understand why LED light data sheets show a smaller lumen number than traditional metal-halide bulb-based lights it is important to understand the technology differences between LEDs and bulb-based lights,” Brian said. “The Lind LE980LED large area LED light, which replaces a 1,000-watt metal-halide bulb, produces 30,000 lumens vs. the 100,000 lumens reported for metal-halide bulb. “Bulb-based lights may show a higher lumen number; but what really matters is how much of that light is useable. “A 1,000-watt metal-halide bulb typically comes in at 100,000 lumens. However, half of that light goes in the wrong direction – back into the light fixture housing and not toward the work area. Light fixture reflectors do very little to reflect the light to the work area, so the bulb immediately loses half of its 100,000 lumens,” Brian said. “As the metal-halide bulb ages, its ability to produce light is reduced rather quickly. Of the 50,000 lumens projected toward the job site, 40% of that lumen output deteriorates. That means a 1,000-watt metal-halide bulb produces 60% of 50,000 lumens, or 30,000 useable lumens. Coincidentally, that’s the same number of lumens projected by equivalent LED lights that direct all of their output to the job site. Plus, LEDs have little light power deterioration over time. “The Lind LE980LED light cart offers the same usable light output as a 4 x 1,000-watt metal halide cart, yet uses just 20% of the power. LED technology almost eliminates maintenance requirements. “LED-equipped light towers can effectively light up job sites, have few bulb issues and require much less power to use when compared with light towers outfitted with metal-halide bulbs.” n Contact: 02 9188 8807 or visit: www.orbservices.com.au Morris Site Machinery has launched a dedicated website for its Australian market P54 HIRE AND RENTAL NEWS FEBRUARY 2019
