BOOK A DEMO Family Business Association Life Membership awarded to Andy Kennard With 14+ years of membership to the Family Business Association (FBA), second-generation Kennard, Andy Kennard was last year presented with a Life Membership to the FBA; something Andy said is a great honour. “I am very proud to receive Life Membership with the FBA,” Andy said. “I received this award on behalf of my whole family who have also spent a great deal of time with the FBA.” Family businesses represent up to 70% of all businesses trading in Australia turning over an estimated $4.3 trillion annually. “Family businesses are an important part of the Australian economy in terms of wealth generation and employment. Family businesses tend to look long term, are conservative in their gearing and tend to employ long term too. “The benefits of belonging to the FBA are numerous and I encourage all hire industry family businesses to consider what they might gain by joining,” Andy said. “Through the FBA we have gotten to know and network with other family business administrators who have been happy to share their inside information on how they’ve managed problems and challenges. “It was through the FBA we learned as a family business how to develop our own family charter, to give our children a clear idea of their path in the business. “Our family charter talks about our history, offers guidance for future generations when joining the family business, the rules of working in the family business and talks about our family values so all of the family know what our values are and how they relate to the family and the business. Our family charter has been a strong guiding principle for us as a family. “We’ve improved the governance in our family business and we have learned how to be a family business through the generations.
