INDUSTRY IN FOCUS ...YPN participants in the Pilot Program are assigned an industry leader as a mentor who will provide industry- specific insights, experience and skills to guide the participant through the HRIA pilot program Young Professionals get a mentoring boost Young hire professionals looking to progress their career were offered a boost late last year with the launch of the Young Professional Network Pilot Development Program. A n extension to the Young Professional Network launched in August 2017, the Pilot Program offered up to 20 hire professionals under 40 the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence and pursue a more successful career through intensive mentoring. Over a nine month period, YPN participants in the Pilot Program are assigned an industry leader as a mentor who will provide industry- specific insights, experience and skills to guide the participant through the HRIA pilot program. The pilot program is designed to assist YPN participants to identify their goals and take the next steps to achieve their career goals. This more intensive, formalised program includes scheduled one-on-one mentoring sessions and structured workshops. Selected by the HRIA from nominee applications, all candidates commit to the full program with the approval of their managers prior to submission. The next intake of applicants will be late 2019. YPN value-adding for the next generation Continuing the original YPN program, the HRIA will continue to provide a range of value- add services including networking meetings, mentor presentations, and additional workshops to the YPN community. The program helps young professionals learn more about the hire industry, advance their professional development and establish relationships and networks that will assist them in growing into future leaders within the industry, HRIA CEO, James Oxenham said. “This HRIA initiative is tailored to those between 18 and 40 who want to learn more about the industry, build networks, advance their professional skills and achieve their potential as the leaders of tomorrow,” James said. “The Young Professionals Network provides a voice for the next generation of hire leaders and seeks to develop informed, educated and connected professionals while fostering the camaraderie unique to the hire industry. “To achieve these aims, the YPN follows three pillars: Mentoring, Education and Networking,” James said.
