Hydraulink NSW State Manager Mark Andrews said it had invested in addition of Hydraulink branded product to its Australasian inventory. “Many thousands of individual stock items were added to inventory throughout the region in recent months, because a shortage of standard and custom hydraulic hose and fitting components can bring even the largest and most sophisticated machinery to a total standstill,” he said. “Hydraulink has a reputation for always having product availability with quick turnaround. This reduces delays in maintenance that can compromise safety and cause costly downtime. So we have acted, to anticipate the needs of the market by carrying strong inventory levels across Asia-Pacific while the problem of inadequate hydraulic hose manufacturing capacity continues to persist. Hydraulink supplies hoses, fittings, adaptors and accessories to more than 400 hose service points throughout Australasia, supported by mobile units to provide 24/7 service to prevent downtime, optimise uptime, and ensure the smooth flow of business. After arriving in Perth from Liebherr’s manufacturing facility in France in late June, the first excavator began a four-week pre-assembly by Liebherr. From there, the large load was transported by National Heavy Haulage from Perth to Christmas Creek, with final assembly on site. The Liebherr R 996B is renowned as an outstanding piece of equipment all over the world with the ability to achieve the most challenging targets in the most demanding conditions. The machine is equipped with two V16 Cummins engines designed to withstand extreme environments and to minimise downtime, along with a high-pressure hydraulic system and optimised pipe and hose layout to maximise operational efficiency. Fortescue will fit the new machine with a Cat MineStar Terrain Package receiver, allowing it to interact with other Caterpillar 793F autonomous dump trucks. The excavator will enable it to send signals to Fortescue’s autonomous trucks via GPS sensors to move into position to receive a load. The Liebherr R 996B technical specifications include: operating weight with backhoe attachment- 672.00t; Engine rating at 1800rpm- 2,240kW.
