According to Queensland Forklifts‘ General Manager, Mick McGary, the land for the new premises was purchased 18 months ago but following huge growth over that period, they now think they should have made the premises larger. “The move was driven by our growth and the need for more space to accommodate our ever-expanding fleet,” Mick said. “However, wifi throughout the facility allows us to utilise the latest technology with our ERP (tablets for our technicians and hire controllers, live photos etc), and we have implemented state of the art security and remote access capabilities, plus gone for a carbon neutral footprint with a full solar energy platform and water harvesting. “The relocation and new premises will have no impact for customers in terms of distance relocation or response times. The layout of our new building will provide much quicker delivery times to site from customer request,” Mick said. Specialising in forklifts, telehandlers and attachments for a range of equipment, the Queensland Forklifts range starts from 1.0 tonne up to 16 tonne lifting capacity forklifts, including 4WD and all terrain telehandlers. “We rent our units typically from one day up to six years depending on the customer’s needs. Plus we sell new and used equipment and have a service division that looks after our fleet as well as customer owned equipment. “Our fleet is predominantly Toyota for our forklifts and Manitou for our all-terrain forklifts and telehandlers. We have been aligned with these two suppliers for the quality of their products, back up support and the relationships developed over many years. We also find when we sell equipment at the end of their term we achieve great resale pricing which factors in as part of our purchasing strategy.” Mick said. “With a fully equipped workshop and engineering capabilities our team prepares all our units for our hire department. Our field service team covers breakdowns and routine maintenance.” The business was established in 2008 by Laurie Harper (Director) with two staff. “Laurie decided to embark on a forklift rental business that was truly customer focused, easy to deal with and only provided premium products that were the best in the industry. Nowwith 21 employees and over 700 pieces of equipment we want our customers to feel like we’re a small business with personalised service and a professional approach. “An example of this is our recruitment policy where we only employ good people with true character. They don’t necessarily need the most extensive skill set or experience but good people who understand our values, will learn quickly, adapt and be really valued. “Our customer base consists of small to medium businesses, the event industry, construction and manufacturing and we are a major supplier to other forklift and access hire companies.” The new premises are at 10 StephensWay, Luscombe, south of Brisbane.
