48 HIRE AND RENTAL NEWS • EVENTS in FOCUS • MAY 2018 Harry The Hirer’s Sam Jamieson, Operations, said the Atrium is a statement internally and externally that HTH is a creative, design led business that is willing to push all boundaries. Produced from powder coated black aluminium, clear glass windows and printed clear PVC roof skins, the Atrium is 15m wide, 7.5m high and features 50m of 5m deep bays. “It was designed in-house here at Harry the Hirer by Andrew Dunstan and myself. It was also manufactured and produced by suppliers right here in Victoria. It was purpose built for the private market, for high end weddings, corporate functions and high-end boutique events,” Sam said. “The idea originally came from searching the internet for greenhouse weddings. I found a picture of a small greenhouse in South Africa that had a cathedral shaped roof and thought: ‘hey, this could make a pretty good marquee’. “During the initial concept phase Pippa Middleton got married overseas inside a glasshouse looking structure and it was all over the news. We went over to France and Belgium to see the structure; they call it L’orangerie. It has a stable or barn shaped tiered roof and is made out of solid steel frames. We decided to steer away from that structure design and continue with our own design since aluminium suited our market more, and is a lot more efficient to build.” The Atrium had its first outing at TV New Atrium structure emulates fantasy greenhouse A new high-end marquee built to emulate a fantasy inside a greenhouse from Harry The Hirer, the Atrium most closely resembles a French L’orangerie and has been receiving rave reviews from the industry and across all forms of media since its first outing. presenter Lauren Phillip's wedding in Flinders, Victoria, as a 15m x 35m structure, housing 250 guests. “Since then it has been used at a wedding on Bennelong Lawn, Sydney, looking out over the Sydney Harbour and the Opera House. A much smaller version of it was also used at VAMFF (Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival) for Priceline beauty bar." The Atrium will be limited to evening events only like high-end private functions, corporate functions and high- end boutique events since the structure can get quite hot under the sun, even with air conditioning; after all it is a green house, Sam said. The Atrium is a component based structure that is completely demountable, with every component put into stillages, wrapped, stacked, freighted and stored. “It is incredibly easy to transport; it is what we do for a living so we designed it to be transportable and user friendly. We clean the structure after each use, on site. It is such a premium structure it needs to present that way. We have specialised window cleaners and our labour will tidy up the black aluminium after every use.” “We chose to launch the Atrium via social media, so the first outing (Lauren Phillip's wedding) was a great platform because there were many celebrities and high-end guests that kept continually uploading it to their own pages. On the Monday after that wedding we were overwhelmed with phone calls; the feedback from the industry has been unbelievable. “The staff love it, it has been a statement internally and externally that HTH is a creative, design led business that is willing to push all boundaries. We are incredibly proud of this achievement. Most of us were watching the first wedding roll out via Instagram stories on the night of Lauren Phillip's wedding. It even made the Herald Sun on Sunday.” Contact: 03 9034 0530 or visit website: www.harrythehirer.com.au The Atrium had its first outing at Lauren Phillip's wedding in Flinders, Victoria EVENTS in FOCUS
