Hire and Rental News - May 2018

4 HIRE AND RENTAL NEWS • MAY 2018 HIRE18 Convention. There has never been a better time to attend, with such a positive economical vibe around the country. Having the largest contingent of suppliers' new products and innovations on show, I am sure there will be bargains on offer. The HRIA will be releasing several brand- new member initiatives at HIRE18. We have partnered with an accounting and advisory firm, HLB MannJudd who is available 24 hours a day to offer business, taxation, and corporate advice. The Association is pleased to announce its new joint venture with PSC Insurance. This is insurance designed for our members only and owned by our Association in partnership with PSC. As members take up this insurance, the more competitive the premiums will become ASSOCIATION NEWS What’s happening in the hire market in South Australia president's message Mad March in South Australia has come and gone. Events such as Fringe, Adelaide 500 Car Race Day on the Green concerts, Womadelaide, Glendi Greek Festival just to name a few all happen around the same time, which gives all of us, not just the Event sector, great opportunities. This is a good time of the year for not only business to increase revenue but for staff to make the most of the additional hours and overtime which become available. We have also had a change of government from Labour for nearly 16 years to the Liberal Party. The interesting outcome of this is the Nick Xenophon Team party did not get a single seat. Maybe this is a sign of things to come on a national leave? If the Liberal Party can manage to keep their promises and commitments for the first 100 days and abolish pay roll tax for small businesses and reduce ESL by 50% just to name a couple, confidence should increase in the small to medium businesses. Nationally we are seeing reports from almost all quarters’ infrastructure investments fuelling a strong period for all our members. There is also indication budgets are being trimmed at local government levels and are now translating to more business for the rental sector. I am extremely excited about our and the more our members will benefit. The Women in Hire program will be rolled out at this year’s HIRE18 Convention. This program is designed to assist women in our industry and to promote our industry as an equal opportunity work place for women to explore possible career opportunities. I encourage all our members to visit our Hire Zone stand at HIRE18 and catch up with any one of the HRIA staff and executive committees who will give you more information regarding all the new member services now available. A big thank you to all our suppliers who once again sponsored our Convention; without your support these conventions would not exist. To all the suppliers; thank you for bringing your products to Brisbane and being part of our 50th HIRE18 Convention. Your support has been overwhelming. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jeff Bernard our Past President. Jeff is very passionate and worked tirelessly for the Association and members during his term as National President. I was relieved to know Jeff is staying on our board and will mentor me over the coming years. Thank you Jeff. I look forward to seeing you at HIRE18.
