Surface preparation

SPE has added another
dedicated operation to
the SPE group based
in Victoria and aims to
expand into WA early
next year.
SPE began in 1983
in the UK as a small
contracting operation
specialising in enclosed
shot blasting of
concrete and steel
surfaces. The company
went on to design
and manufacture
a large range of
surface preparation
equipment.

DBI-SALA’s Rollgliss R520 Rescue
and Escape Device is part of a range
of pre-engineered rescue and
descent systems that can provide
rescue/retrieval safety solutions.
DBI-SALA’s Rollgliss R520 is
an easy-to-use, fully automatic
controlled descent device with a
dual braking system. Unlike friction
based descenders, it provides
controlled descent self-rescue
regardless of the user’s weight for
the evacuation of multiple
personnel, or the versatility of
assisted rescue.
The Rollgliss R520 Rescue and
Escape device can be used from
heights of up to 150m. Each kit
Twin brake rescue and escape descender
is available in a variety of lengths,
configured with connecting hardware
at each end of the lifeline and is pre-
rigged and ready for use in the event
of an emergency. The user connects
the descender to an anchorage point,
attaches the connector to their harness
and lowers themselves to perform a
hands free descent. The descent speed
is automatically limited, adjusting to
body weight, allowing a secure and
effective escape within seconds.
The descender allows operation in
both directions; one end of the lifeline
descends as the other ascends,
readying the system for next use.
