With over 700 rental company members
and valued at $4.8bn (IBIS), the
Hire and
Rental Industry Association
(
HRIA) covers a
range of equipment across varied industries,
from general plant hire, access and portable
buildings, to temporary power generation
and excavation equipment. The HRIA, as a
national industry association, maintains a
close eye on changes to safety legislation
and works with its members and regulators
to develop national codes of business
management to ensure safety measures are
identified, adopted and implemented.
The Elevating Work Platform Association
of Australia (EWPA) is the industry body
representing the Elevating Work Platform
(
EWP) industry and includes manufacturers,
suppliers, rental companies, owner/users
and service providers. Formed in 1987, the
association has more than 400 member
companies and is run through a National
Executive, supported by State Committees,
which meet regularly to ensure effective
communication on key issues.
The Telescopic Handler Association
of
Australia (TSHA) has been formed to
manage all aspects of the versatile telescopic
handler and address market confusion about
compliance and safety issues. Officially
convened in December 2011, the TSHA, a
separate division of the EWPA, has set its
goals and plans provide the tools to develop
and educate industry in the safe and effective
use of the telescopic handler in the interests
of improving safety and productivity.
