“
The reason we went for the Challenger
was primarily for the boom length. A lot
of what we do is on uphill sites, so you
really need the boom height. Not needing
a support truck is also a big plus. And the
Challenger is a better option than a truck
crane because of its All Terrain capability.”

Long time hire industry member, Braden
Murrin‘s Equipment Direct has launched
a new line of scaffolding in Australia
following the establishment of a joint
manufacturing venture in China.
Called Tuff Scaff, the scaffolding being
manufactured is the 2600 (or A26 ) series.
“
This equipment is the most robust
scaffold in the market and perfect for any
rental situation,” Braden said.
“
With a 2.6mm wall thickness it gives
greater frame and brace life. We will
continue to TIG weld the frames, which
grants the operator greater control over
the weld allowing for stronger, higher
quality welds and offer a lifetime warranty
on the welding.”
According to Braden, benefits of the
scaffold include;
• 48.6
mm outside diameter tube which
takes standard scaffold fittings and jacks
•
Manufactured to the highest safety
standards from T6-6061 alloy (meeting
Australian requirements)
•
Life time warranty on welds
• 500
mm transoms (horizontal cross beam
of the frame which permits a midrail and
handrail automatically without requiring
special guardrail frames. Some alternate

Frames can be used as a base frame,
building frame and guardrail frame
resulting in greater utilisation of all
scaffold components

Anti-Slip Safety Plywood

“
Testing is complete for the scaffold (to
AS/NZS 1576.3) and it has passed medium
duty rated to a safe working load of
440
kg,” Braden said.
“
There had been incidents in the market
of breakages in the hooks and even
some recalling of scaffold components
because of this problem. Equipment Direct
increased the strength of the hook by
about 20% by increasing the thickness of
the hook across the bridge and increasing
the strength in the casting material. We
now weld the brace hook onto the tube.
“
While these changes have increased
the cost of the hook, overall the cost
is minimal compared to the resultant
strength of the hook.”

ACM technicians 24 hour remote access

ACM engineers can conduct a full
fault check on the machine and check
recent movements in case of a safety

wireless camera is fitted in the cabin so
the technician can also see the machine

problems can be addressed from ACM’s
technicians in Victoria without relying on
an ACM service network in other states.
The system gives customers immediate
response to emergency issues, eliminating
the need to wait for a specialist mechanic
onsite and resulting in savings in machine
downtime and reduced labour costs.
