This year NSW south coast based general
hire and event hire company, Go Hire is
celebrating 40 years in business and will
mark the occasion with a celebration with
local clients and suppliers along with staff.
Go Hire is managed by well-known
industry member, Peter Hinde who said
the team at Go Hire prides themselves
on product, staff knowledge and
workmanship in an ever changing business.
The business has a varied history,
beginning in 1973 when John and Daphne
Hinde purchased Event Hire Company (L &
L Hirings). The business expanded in 1979
with the purchase of general hire business
Dapto Hire and again in 1980 with the
purchase of portable building business
Wollongong Shed Hire.
Then in 1982 the company changed
its name to Go Hire and in 1986 moved
its general hire and event hire to the
Princes Highway, at Dapto and opened
a new branch on the Princes Highway,
at Corrimal. Another new branch was
opened in 1995 at Lake Entrance Road,
Shellharbour and The Event People moved
to a new showroom in Unanderra in 2003.

glassware; and wedding and ceremony equipment

When the
opportunity arose
in 2006, Go Hire
sold its general
hire business to
Kennards Hire,
changing its focus to
the site rentals and
event hire aspect of
the business.
“
In the late 70’s
Go Hire Site Rentals
introduced tin sheds
and tin toilets to
our equipment list.
Since that time
we’ve worked
through many
changes including
the outlawing of tin toilets and the
introduction of portable toilets, from basic
site toilets to our deluxe flushing toilets for
events,” Peter said.
“
Go Hire Site Rentals today supplies
portable buildings and accessories, site
containers, ablution/toilet blocks, single
portable toilets and temporary fencing.
On the event side of the business, Go Hire
The Event People now supplies: quality
chairs; crockery, cutlery and glassware; and
wedding and ceremony equipment.”
