Kennards Hire Acquires Bendigo Hire in Regional Victoria
Martin Sinclair Aug 10
Kennards Hire is growing its presence in Victoria with its first regional acquisition.
The acquisition of Bendigo Hire represents the company’s first venture into regional Victoria, expanding its network to 32 outlets with more planned in the coming months.
Kennards Hire is ready to support Bendigo and its surrounding regions with a wider product range and the ability to access its entire branch network to serve DIYers, tradies, and local or state construction projects of any size.
The acquisition will expand Bendigo Hire’s equipment offering with new products, which is exciting for customers. This includes an 8-tonne excavator, concrete grinders and planers, concrete vacuums for silica dust, 2- and 5-tonne tipper trucks, traffic management equipment, 4” and 6” pumps, large tracked skid steer loader, and lift and shift equipment.
Bendigo Hire has supplied equipment in the region for almost 50 years, and former owner Paul Rockes said the acquisition was a “no-brainer” as he neared retirement.
“There’s hardly a job that’s been done in Bendigo, and I don’t think there’s been a backyard, or a garden landscaped in Bendigo, without equipment from Bendigo Hire,” said Mr Rockes.
“As a family-owned and operated business, we know Kennards Hire will do a good job of continuing our legacy by helping to make our customers’ jobs easy.”
Kennards Hire Victorian general manager Lance Hawes said the acquisition was a special one for the business, marking its first true regional branch in Victoria.
“We look forward to being able to support the local community by adding our breadth of experience and resources to a team that knows and understands its customers,” said Mr Hawes.
Mr Hawes underlined Kennards Hire’s commitment to maintaining the spirit of family and community, values which resonate deeply with both companies.
“The most exciting thing for us is that all of the existing Bendigo Hire staff will be joining the Kennards Hire family. With their local knowledge and product expertise, along with an increased product range and ability for customers to access our entire branch network, we will continue to build on the exceptional work Bendigo Hire has done serving the community for more than 50 years.
Kennards Hire welcomes Bendigo Hire’s employees, led by branch manager Steven Jovanovic, who are staying with the company after its exciting next step.
Bendigo Hire equipment and memorabilia will be moved to Sydney for the Kennards Hire Museum.
The new Bendigo branch is at 162 Lyttleton Terrace. Contact Kennards Hire Bendigo at (03) 5440 8500 or visit the website.
