The Australian Constructors Association welcomes advice that Sydney construction sites are confirmed to reopen on 31 July 2021.
In a positive step forward to help see the industry through the lockdown, the NSW Government has released guidelines for managing the impacts of the closure of Sydney construction sites.
Australian Constructors Association CEO Jon Davies said the guidelines will provide contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and employees greater confidence about cash flows and certainty of payment.
“To deliver the State’s record infrastructure project pipeline we need the full supply chain intact,” Mr Davies said.
“Members of the Australian Constructors Association will seek to ensure that any cash flow injections are quickly passed down the supply chain.
“We expect this guidance will help to avoid wasting time and taxpayers’ money in disputes and legal action.
“We are pleased to see the NSW Government has listened and responded with a way forward that not only has been developed with industry but, importantly, is for all industry players.
“It is in the public interest to ensure Australia’s third largest industry—construction—is fit and able to deliver the planned pipeline of projects.”
