HRIA secures NHVR funding for load restraint training
Hire and Rental Industry Association’s Load Restraint Systems and e-learning program for Mobile Plant endorsed to improve heavy vehicle safety
Hire and Rental Industry Association’s (HRIA) Load Restraint Systems and e-learning program for Mobile Plant will receive key funding through the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s (NHVR) Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative, supported by the Federal Government.
This funding will allow the HRIA to deliver
- A series of Engineered load restraint systems to provide to the Hire and Rental Industry as a means of addressing the securing of Mobile Plant in transit.
- Development and delivery of remote delivery training (e-learning) to support the load restraint systems and maximise understanding and industry take-up.
This project is one of 28 successful heavy vehicle safety initiatives to receive funding from $5.2 million in Round 6 of the HVSI.
HRIA’s CEO James Oxenham said the HVSI funding would enable the HRIA to provide simple and clear information to Drivers and Loaders for the restraint of a range of Mobile Plant and associated training in the use of these restraint systems.
“The HRIA believes that implementation of these systems will achieve multiple goals of Safer Drivers and Vehicles plus Safer Road Use, through the improved restraint of Mobile Plant.”
“The key areas of Mobile Plant proposed to be included in the program include Earth Moving equipment (excavators, Bobcats, Front end loaders etc), Compaction equipment (Rollers) and Access Equipment ( Boom lifts, EWPs etc).”
NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto said the HVSI program supported key initiatives that deliver tangible safety improvements for the heavy vehicle industry and all road users.
“The grants enable the NHVR, local governments, industry and other stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to achieve a shared goal of safer drivers, safer vehicles and safer road use for all Australians.
“I look forward to working with the Hire and Rental Industry Association to deliver their Load Restraint Systems and e-learning program, and improve road safety for everyone.”
Details on the training courses will be released by the HRIA once it has been developed.
